While I was at it, I had the moon/sun roof done. Another excellent job.

Dave, thanks very much for the great and quick service.

I will try and post some pics if I ever figure out how to do this without having a web site.

Cheers

What did it cost for just the stripe on the windshield? (if you don't mind my asking )

Hi Jay

Actually I took them up on their offer to the group here. For P5 owners it is $30 CDN for the eyebrow (pick your % of tint).

The moon roof was $35 CDN.

The address is 7304 - 50th St, Edmonton.

It was great talking to the installer at Aero Car Parts, another Dave, and I was satisified that he certainly knew what he was doing. Also, I found out that he removes windows to tint and not do the short cut method of cutting along the edge. By the way he said he loves the P5 to do so hopefully we can send him more business.

Cheers

I think at the end of the month (before I go on holidays I will do this).

How does it work around the rear view mirror?

He cuts around the shape of the support. He followed it pretty close and was only out a bit but I appreciated that rather than him cutting up the support getting it too perfect. I'll simply take a bit of black marker and fill in the gaps.

He will also do how much you want but be aware he cannot go more than 4" so if you want to keep it above the mirror I guess that would work.

Jay,

As a comparison, ensure that you talk with Ron at European Auto Tinting. He did our 2000 - all windows plus moonroof...as well as an incredible job on the rock guard.

It sounds as if this new shop is good, but it pays to shop around and find out about the people you're dealing with. Ron does all of the work for Southgate Volkswagen / Audi and Weber Motors, along with a few other dealerships. European also bakes all the tint, so you're free to roll your windows down as soon as you leave...no drying time.

Either way, it sounds that you'll get a good job done regardless of where you end up.
I've already had all my windows tinted at Supertint. The only thing that I am interested in now (and wish I'd thought of it then) is to get a strip along the windshield done. I only hesitate to do this because my windshield is already quite fucked up, lots of scratches in it. So I'm not sure I want to spend the $$$ on it if I am going to replace it next spring...although it is only ~$30.

I was very happy with the job that Supertint did. Once it had fully cured it was nearly flawless, the only downside was having to wait for it to cure. I'd suggest to anyone to shop around though, as I got a deal at Supertint making the price about equal with others in the city.

The only reason I would go to the new shop is because I think it is important to support vendors who are offering services to us 'enthusiasts'. It is nice to see vendors/dealers/suppliers/etc making the effort to offer us products and services we want.

A guy I work with just had his windows in his Mini tinted at European and was very happy with the job. And having just restored his Mini he's a little **** about it

Jay,

I agree completely and I was willing to give them a try, plus as you say it is only $30. On top of that I got a quote for $80 from another shop to do the same thing so I knew where I stood.

As for yours, maybe you should wait as your windshield is in need of repair, so if you have to do it again it is now $60 (2 x $30) but you probably knew that already.

Cheers

Question help and info.

I tried to change the subject right after you told me the first time but I'm not sure how to do it. I thought I did it right the first time but I guess not. Please give me some advice on how to do it and i'll be glad to. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused anybody!

Just to let everybody know we were the first shop in Edmonton to tint windows back in the early 80's. We operated under another name back then. We tinted Mark Messier Porsche among many other local well known people. We did stop tinting for a while as we got into other things. We do work for 95% of the local dealerships and it was due to their continued requests for us to start tinting that we decided to get back into it. Now when a dealership wants a spoiler we do their tint work at the same time.

Aero Car Parts has been around since 1990 but we have been in business in the same location for 22 years! Just thought some of you would like to know a little backround info on us.

Can't change it.

What you told me to do is exactly what I did last time. I tried it again but still no success. When I go to my edit screen it says window tinting in edmonton in the subject line but when I press the button to make the changes it still doesn't work. Call me at 440-6017 and maybe you can help me fix it over the phone. I don't understand why it is not working. I could delete the posting and resubmit one.
