Protege VS Caprice

Well I live in Camp Springs, MD and on Branch Ave.(for those of you in the Southern MD, D.C area) near the mall a Caprice pulls up next to me. This baby was load with chrome dual exhaust. Well I was expecting to get whip, but I didn't. He nodged forward ahead of the white line. I didn't move because I know my reaction his fast. The light turned green and as I expected my reaction was quicker. So now were side by side which seems like forever being that the 3 lane was soon to be a 2 lane. I was slowly, very slowly inching ahead. Then all of the sudden once we it about 65-70 this sucker takes off like his car was reenergized. I expected to get whipped but I didn't. I know he wasn't toying with me from his facial expressions and the fact that his car was reving extremely high and was clicking at what seemed to be red point. Though I lost , it sure was fun.

Redrims, I see that you have flowmasters on your car, which chamber? I wouldn't recommend that muffler to any 4 cylinder owner, but to each his own.

Maybe it's just me, but I doubt I'd ever race a Caprice. Just my luck it'd be a cop, since that model used to be a cop car anyways.

Wise advice. Several friends of mine have owned Caprices with the 9C1 police package, and they are NOT slow- they use them to hunt ricers for fun These cars pack a detuned LT1 Vette motor with 260 hp stock, and it's not hard to get them up to Vette power levels (300 hp) and beyond. These cars run low 15's stock, 14's with some cheap and easy mods, and 12's with the addition of the blue bottle

Speed is the reason why these cars are legendary among law enforcement. It's also the reason why some police officers in Texas were caught falsifying maintenance records so their departments wouldn't retire the Caprices and replace them with Crown Vics I would recommend looking for the telltale spotlight holes in the windshield frame before racing any Caprice in a Protege
