engine cooling fan runs battery dead

2011 mazda 3 the cooloing fan continues to run after the engine is shut of until the battery is dead. DOes not do it all the time but enough. I have to pull the 40 amp fuse to shut it off . I have searched relentlessly for a cause but no luck. Is there a relay built into the fan itself which it has only one. Need help if anyone has information.

Anybody have this issue or recommendations. Pulling the 40 amp fuse is getting old.

I had this issue for a couple of months, turns out that coolant was some how low it didn't seem like it was needed, (also there was a hose leaking a little coolant) so they put a new hose, fill up the coolant and haven't had that issue since, hope it helps
