My P5 is 6 years old this month and I've never changed out the coolant. Having replaced my wife's '01 Galant radiator New Years day, I got to thinking it's about time for some preventive maintinance on the old Mazda.

I have twio questions:

1. What is the legal way to dispose of spent coolant; storm drain, recycling center... ?
2. Can anyone tell me how to read the type of hydrometer in this picture?

 

Dunno about the hydrometer, but DO NOT dispose of the coolant by dumping it down the storm drain. That is by no means environmentally safe or legal. Call around to several local recycling centers and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

You don't need a hydrometer - you are way overdue for a drain/flush. At this point it is for corrosion prevention and not for freeze protection!

 

Yeah I know, I flushed it Tuesday. It was green but a little dark colored.
I just wanted to know how to read the hydrometer for the hell of it.
