Honestly they're both the same type. They are torque-bias gear-driven LSDs, so they have the downside of functioning as an open diff as soon as one wheel is on a slippery surface (ice) or is off the ground.

correct...they are both worm gear driven...torque sensing based on load applied...
the quaife is a LOT stronger(thus the higher price), bottom line is their design has more surface area where the gears intermesh.

Anyone know how much power the welded and revised MSP LSD can handle? I know the MS3 uses a similar diff (same company and type) so I know they can handle a decent amount (250whpish).
It'd be nice to know where the threshold is between being ok with the MSP one welded and needing a quaife.

that said, the quaife will perform better. for that much more money, it better
