Extended reach NGK's??

So do the extended reach NGK plugs fit ok for the Protege's? I noticed they are a bit longer (hence the extended reach) but I just wanna make sure nothing will hit them and mess up my engine...?.?

And whats the advantage of extended reach?

Thanks.

The longer reach plugs will fit fine. They are standard on the JDM vehicles.
There has been a lot of discussion about this. Theoretically the longer reach will advance your ignition timing slightly. IMO the engine revved smoother.
In the end, though, we are talking about $10 worth of plugs, so don't expect much.

So they will advance timing? Crap so since my engine is pinging, I shouldn't use these plugs??? They will run hotter?

Thanks.

The reach will help combustion a little bit. Since the plus sits deeper in the combustion chamber, it will help the flame spread more uniformly. I don't know how much it would give powerwise (not much I would think), but it might help....

i heard the deeper reach plugs also slight raise compression..that would actually account for any claimed(however slight) power increase

It might increase it .01 or so... LoL

But yeah, it would raise it a little.
