VW GOLF vs. PRO DX

well my car runs like crap and i thought i was gonna loose, plus i had a full tank of gas , anyway the car i raced was a 5spd 95-97 4dr golf CL or GL, one or the other, it was the 8v, not the 16v and in mint condition.

so anyway, we went to find a spot, and we had a buddy follow us cause he wanted to whach, BTW, he had a 95GSR with a jap civic type R motor (195hp) plus some other stuff done to it.

so we find a nice spot, wait for traffic to clear, and pull up to the red light, (this was 10:30 at night). right in front of us is a clear road through a forest that takes up about a block or 2, so nice and dark. the advance green goes first, then it turns yellow, and we get the green (perfect xmas tree intersection ). we take off, his tires spin for like a second, im in front right off the intersection, i hit second, he's at my back door, at this point he starts to gain a little and im starting to worry, as my rpms hit 3500+ its bybye VW. then i hit 3rd and by now i can see his headlights in my side mirror, i was already about 2 car lengths ahead, and out of no where, our buddy that was tailing us through the race with the GSR blasts (zigzags between our cars) right past us!, wow that thing is fast.

anyway, i guess the cl's arent a good match, im gonna try to race a 96 GTI soon 8v though, any predictions? anyone know what those cars put out?

the reall funny thing is that my next might be VW jetta or passat, hopefully VR6

If I can beat jetta's, then you can too. i dont know about the New Jetta's though. But the old ones are lame. 115 hp I think and they weigh like 2800 lbs. and 2 days ago I got raped by a nitrous fed type R with some extra **** done to it (amazing what kids can do with a lot of money). You're not alone. In all the cars I've seen and watched race, porches, supras, street bikes, that damn car musta been the fastest of them all. I'm not sure but I think I've heard he has the fastest car in his county

yeah, the GTI's i think have 115hp with the 2.0 8v, and i think there 0-60 is really bad, our pros, well at least my model, 1.8 soch 94dx is rated at 105hp and 111Ib torque and 0-60 is 8.9 and thats actually better then the GTi's lol, but who know, i'll see if i can race him

the funny thing is that i want my next car to be a vw, haha, well im hoping for a 96-97 vr6 jetta or passat,

oh and has anyone experienced how much faster a wrx sti is over our pro's, well i did (duh, only a 200hp diff)
stopped on a red light, the wrx pulled up next to me, first thing i saw is the huge air scoop they have now, and those brakes i wasn't even thinking of going against that, but then the light turned green, we started driving normally, i stayed in first and red lined to just keep beside him, and i guess when he heard my revs he stepped on it, WOW, this guy was gone before i could even go from 1-2gear, he wasn't even reving high,

Yes those WRX Sti's are hot it's great that for 30 grand you can get a car that can beat a vette and still be able to drive it in the winter or rally it if you so choose. Watch out for the equally fast Mitsu Evo's FINNALLY in the US.

they suck depanding on what you get, and they are really expensive to fix BUT if your dads a DIY'er then that makes more sense,

plus i want something with *****, and has to be a 4 door, (im 19 and insurance companies dont like us) so i was thinking of a acura 1.6el, but to slow, and the 2.0 pros are to much, but like a 95 jetta vr6 will boot and be cheaper on insurance and i can afford it.

The Lancers were here awhile ago but the Evo's just made it in the states this year. Properly called the Lancer Evolution it looks pretty much like a regular Lancer besides for a hole in the hood for the air to flow out of from it's intercooler and a big optional rear carbonfiber spoiler. It's pretty much a rally car with road tires and a full interior, as is the WRX STI. The evo comes with a 2.0 l 271 HP - 273 lbs-ft torque engine so unless you got one hopped up protege i wouldn't mess. As for Volkswagon they have my respect. There Suspension is excellent for at least my style of driving(very little roll for a stock car) and the Golf GTI 2.8L 200 hp, 195 lbs-ft torque, 6 cylinder VR6 with a six speed gets my applause after test driving one.
