Ok here's my story and problem. A few months ago, my dear older brother gave me his 95' Protege LX. right off the back i knew there were a few things wrong with it, like the struts were broken, and one of the door locks wasn't working, front speakers blown up! and so on.... so whatever...no big deal i said...bottom line is ..i went to change the oil ( i know nothing about cars, this is my first) and the guys at the shop did a check up on it while changing the oil.....and they found the following things wrong with the car...

car needs:
-valve cover gasket
-2 front struts
-3 motor mounts
-2 outer tie rods
-wheel alignment
-timing belt replacement
-cam and crank seals
-* possibly a major tune up ( optional )

So my question is.....should i even bother fixing the stuff on the car...or just simply get rid of it...
one thing i want to say is that at the shop, the guy said that to get all that replaced and done on the car would come to about $3000, which really didn't make me a happy camper, but i do wanna stick around with the car and lear w/e i need to learn about cars from this one.....

So what u guys think...Fix or Get rid of it?????

 

If you do not know much about cars, or that car in particular, then get rid of it. Its not worth it to fix all that, because something will always come up, new or old. My 2 cents.

 

sell it ... get what you can and walk
