Question Changing Brake Pads HELP!!!!!!!

Hey all
I heard this is the right place to ask, I hope so. I am trying to change the brake pads on my wifes rear disc brakes. She has a 1992 Protege. I cant seem to get the cylinder on the calipers for the brake shoes to push back. Without getting it to push back...I cant get the old pads off. The front ones pushed back no problem, but I cant get the rear ones to push back. I dont think there frozen up. Is there something I'm not doing right or missing? Some sort of protege trick I'm not getting??? TIA!!!

On the back of the caliper there is a cover bolt you need to remove next to where the brake line goes into the caliper. Under that is a manual adjustment gear that requires an allen wrench. Turn the gear counterclockwise and that will pull the piston inward. Front calipers don't have this, only the back.
