I just came across the press news page on the mazda web site and the japanese version has now come out with a sport 20 sedan. It has the mp5 front, side and rear skirt. Plus a modified suspension. If you'd like to take a look check out http://www.mazda.com./publicity/publ...12/1206e.html.

I also came across the taiwan web site and they too have the similar model but called 323 protege 2.0. It's amazing! I feel cheated! You can get the a leather interior with woodgrain, sport seats and a dvd navigation system. I don't need all that but some of it would be great in the U.S. I don't read taiwanese but I jut clicked on some of the words and the specs and accessories came up.

I'd like to know your feelings on this because I contacted mazdausa and they sent me a pdf of all performance accessories we can get. However it seems we have to overseas to get these parts.

 

I'm a taiwanese, so i can understant what's saying at the taiwan mazda site. 323 Protege get a engine with 142 horse power and 19.6 kg of torque, which is equivalent to 145 lb.
it has basically everything we have here, but it has back up distance radar, woodgrain, wood/leather wrap up steering wheel(or momo leather wrap up steering wheel for option), 8 way power seat ( or Recaro leather seat for option), cell phone handless system (don't know what is it called in English, sorry), chrome exhust pipe (twin pipe), VCD player with karaoke (6 speakers), Automatic Climate Control System....that's about all.......
somehow i couldn't find it's price on the website......but i guess it's around......um.......say.........30~35 grand.......

 

Sorry that the link didn't work but I'm going to do some research to see how expensive it is to purchase some of the asian accessories that we in the U.S. or Canada can't get.

 

Just FYI --- you can get the leather for the Protege5 and the ES from the dealer. One of the dealers around here had a Silver Protege5 with black leather intereior, it looked sweet!!! My boyfriend wanted to get his seats in leather when he bought his 2002 ES, but the dealership was going to charge him an extra about $5000 for it. We decided it wasn't worth it, but it does look really good!!!

 

Just to let you know....

I accidently put that the leather interior was $5000, it's only about $1500....but I still don't think it's really worth it when you can get custom interior done for around that much or even less.

 

is it in US dollar or in Canadian dollar???
coz i really wonna to have leather interior with silver and black when i get my P5 this summer (if i can get into university)

anonymous_kev, I only asked at one dealer (Hyundai) and he said that for around 1400$ CDN this place does it for all their cars, but I didn't have the money back then, or now, hehe

But just to let you know, you just have to ask the dealers and find out some places that they go to, and then you can negotiate with the places I'm sure and try to lower the price.......
