CAI problems????

Whats up guys, I have been having problems with my CAI. The problems start when I'm at a steady speed like at 65 and pulling 3000rpm, my car starts to sputter almost like there is not enough air flow and it doesn't feel stable I have no clue what the problem is. Is anyone else having this problem???Can anyone help?????

Do you have an auto/1.6? It's a common problem and to tell you the truth, there's nothing that can really be done to totally fix it. Do a search and you'll find a lot of info.

Is this problem only related with the 1.6l autos, or do the manuals have it as well?

I have a 1.6L in manual and when I had the Injen intake (both the old variation from a LONG time ago and the newer variation which is now being sold with the slightly revised bends..), I was getting hesitation.. our MAF's suck.

I had the MAF replaced with another reconditioned unit (under the official recall) because a check engine light came on and never went away even with battery disconnected, and it was slightly better than the original MAF it replaced, however there was a significant bog/hesitation in acceleration compared to the stock airbox I have in my car now.

My car would bog uphill if at a low rpm because it couldn't overcome the turbulence the intake created at low rpm, so I had to downshift to maintain low speeds.. which sucked..

The stock airbox has no such problem pulling from any rpm the way the car is designed to do.. I don't know, I'm anti-intakes now that I'm driving the car stock with just an exhaust again.

Just my 2cents..

I wonder if there's a way to use the 1.8/2.0 engine's MAF instead of our crappy units. Just a thought.

So what should we do about our intake? I s a custom intake better than buying one in a pro shop or online? I mean is there anything else we can do than just replacing the MAF or going back to the stock intake(which I had to do) anyone????

As tradr said earlier, its about turbulence over the MAF sensor. Switching to another MAF from a loarger engine will probably no solve your problems. I would recommend removing everything in from of the stock airbox and maybe adding a few holes to the unfiltered side of the box to get more air in there.
