Could my transmission be damaged??
A little while ago I posted that Jiffy Lube was so kind to leave my transmission plug loose so it spilled it entire contents out. I am not to sure how long I drove on it with little to no transmission fluid before I noticed it was leaking and took it in to be looked at by my friendly Mazda dealer.
My question is what is the chances that there has been permenant damage done to my transmission??? It seems to still be shifting fine and slightly notchy as always. There is no noticable vibration or noises. Of course I am worried though because my car only has a whopping 7000 miles on it and I'd like it to last a little longer than that.

It's not wise to run a transmission dry like that. It probably isn't damaged, but the life of the transmission could be affected. I would make Jiffy Lube pay for a new transmission regardless. Afterall, it was their negligence.
JDMstuff makes a good point in that it's Jiffy Lube's negligence... but you'd be hard-pressed to get anything out of them (well maybe a free oilchange) if there's no visible damage... What did Mazda say when you took it in?
The Mazda dealer basically said that it "could" be damaged, but did not see any visable signs of it. The said that since it ran dry because of improper maintenance that the transmission warranty is void. I figure I'll have the fluid drained at my next oil change and see if there is any metal shavings or other signs of premature wear and replace the fluid with a nice synthetic like Redline.
I emailed Jiffy Lube corp and got an email back from the GM and he asked me to call. I am going to do that today and see what needs to be or can be done. Hopefully my tranny is fine, but I want to make sure that if it does go bad because of the Jiffy Lube mishap that I am not the one shelling out the $$ to get it fixed.
