sparkplugs
ok the only difference with platinum plugs is supposedly you get a bigger hotter spark, which will give a better burn of the Air/Fuel mixture... It really won't help in the horsepower area, but you will get a little better gas mileage..
Response to plugs
I have a 95 Protege ES and I bought NGK V-power plugs for them at Pep Boys figuring that it will be better than Bosch platinums which were already when I bought the car at a used-car dealer... I installed the NGKs and I lost my pep. It made my car quiet but lost torque. It did not kick in until after 3500 RPM. It was still slow in pick up. So I immediately replaced it back with the Bosch platinums and got my torque back... Just so you know.

) unless like john said, you're going FI or n2o. stock vehicles do not require a better plug unless you're misfiring for some reason.
