Bottom line is that we're all guilty of Street racing. There's no such thing as Safe Street Racing. My suggestion is that we have to be more careful because the law is starting to get extremely serious about this. We normally race up in New York at night. And it's gotten so bad that if the NYPD sees your car as a potential racer, they'll ask youwhat you're doing here. Then they'll tell you to go home and if they see you there later on they'll impound your car. The worst thing you you can have done to you is have your car towed in New York City. First of all....they don't use flat beds, they use old tow trucks. So if your car is dropped it'll never survive the potholes. 2nd, once your car is in the impound yard, it's only protection is a see through wire fence that anyone can climb over and strip your car. And finally, After all of that, you'll recieve a fat $55.00 ticket for incouraging street racing.

Oh, I forgot to mention, it's $150.00 for the towing that must be paid before they release your car and $40.00 per day for storage.

As I've said before...
Street racing is like masturbation. Everyone does it but no one talks about it or admits to it.

In Houston they recently arrested 270 people in a K-Mart/Sonic parking lot for this crap. The cops (over 70 of them) came to the area (Uptown Houston) looking to bust some street racers but couldn't find any. So they pretty much rounded up everyone that was in the vicinity and arrested them for tresspassing. Needless to say that since this happened in the uptown area there are some very pissed off people with money and attorneys. Ought to be an interesting catfight.

I think its hard to hold urself back when u come to a light with a hooked up car!. I street race sometimes but never in crowded traffic or busy areas. Or i go find the other racers at the factory road at 1am and have fun. Lets all try to settle down on racing in the streets. I wish they would build a track near my house it would make it alot less tempting to street race .Jon 93lx

Everytime, I look at this poll total, i am amazed, I don't believe everyone is answering honestly. I know more people on this forum street race then are owning up to it.

tax payers

I pay taxes on these streets and I will race them if I damn well please.I do not believe any full out races in the busy part of town.where i am from everyone hangs around the cruise strip and check out the competion. You rev at a couple of people and we all hook up and decide on a spot to race out of twn and at midnight when the pigs change shifts we drop the hammer.and for you pro owners I represent the pro hard in my town i am 31 and 3 the 3 were 2 si's and a BAD *** NEON that cooks more rice than he can eat.but the serious ones race for $100 a race bt no one will race the nen anymore we know better.

I think some peoples defination of street racing is different then others. Some people only think of the fast and the furious when you say street racing.

Your taxes only entitle you to drive on the street. One of the reasons for the illegality of street racing is that you are infringing on the rights of others to use the street in a safe manner. Thats like me saying I pay property taxes to build the school and so if I want to blow it up thats my business. Or I pay federal income taxes so I can steal that tank because I helped pay for it.

sarcasm

It would be hard to kill a family in a mini van when the only two cars are you and the other guy on a one way two lane highway. And if you want to drive a tank why not you helped pay for it.the politcians spend our money any way they see fit and we have not much say, screw them.I think we are on our way to communism any way,go speed racer.
