P5 vs. Prelude

I was on my way up to Wal-Mart earlier today when I come upon a black mid-90's Prelude (with V-Tec, intake and exhaust). I had briefly met the guy before, but didn't really know him. He wanted to race so we start discussing when and where. There weren't many cars around so we decide right there would be good, but we didn't want to do it from a stop because we didn't know when more cars were going to show up. So, we decided on a 40mph roll. I was about a half a car length behind when I gunned it in 2nd gear, He gunned it just a split second after I did, and I caught up to him. We were dead even until the end of 3rd when he started creaping on me just a little bit. He was about half a car length ahead of me when we let off at about 75mph. Again, I admit I lost, but it was a good race.

I catch a red light so he leaves be behind and we go our seperate ways. Just on up the road, though, I see him pulled over with his hood up. I was going to pull over and see what was wrong, but there was too much traffic by this time and I wasn't able to right then. So I went up a ways and turned around and headed torwards where he was. But then I see him pass me, going to opposite way. So, I turn back around and head back up to Wal-Mart. I pull inot my parking place and guess who parks right next to me? Guy in the Prelude. Turns out we were both on out way to Wal-Mart. He comes up and asks me if my car is turbo or supercharged or v-tec... I say no to all of them, and he's like "that's fast as hell for just a straight motor. You were dead even with me even after I switched into V-Tec, but I think I might have just a little better top end" (because he pulled on my in 3rd). So we get to chattin on our way in to Wally world (both headed for automotive) later I find out that some wire had come loose after he had let off back there, so he just had to tighten it back up.

Anyway, I think it was a good race also. Aren't the V-Tec Prelude's supposed to have somethin like 190hp? Oh BTW, he had exhaust and intake also.

Don't worry, I'm sure I'll win one pretty soon.

Haha, THEY WISH!

Even if they did have HP that close, their torque would be like 140 lbs. They're TORQELESS WONDERS alright.

I'm almost sure that V-TEC engines are around 160 hp (at most) stock, with around 140 lbs/tq (or less).

They don't have much, and VERY few people have ever gotten to 190 hp all motor on a v-tec.

i have a modded 98 lude...its a heavy car so its not much of a drag racer at all, but quick.

from 40mph, my lude will pull away no doubt...close? probably not especially when its in 3rd. not trying to be an *** or
anything but i have a pro5 and lude and i know the lude is
much faster and responsive.

plus if things get too close, i have a 60shot onboard. hahaha.

Switched into Vtec... But yeah those mid-90s VTEC Preludes run low 15s stock... that's not bad.
