Has anyone raced a Jetta?

Has anyone ever raced a Jetta 1.8T before?
I'm thinking racing my friends Jetta 1.8T with 150hp or 170hp? again since the new intake is running well. Last time I raced him with a stock intake we were very close with him in the lead about 1/8 of a car length. I'm going to see if I can lead this time. Wish me luck!

I raced a Jetta on the highway over the summer..........I am pretty sure (not 100%) that it was a 1.8T ...................
we were pretty even to 100mph, but after 110 I slowly started catching up to him and eventually passed him when I hit 120.
off the line, he'll smoke me...........no question there..........

Hey dont sleep on those 1.8-Ts just a simple ecu chip upgrade can give those cars over 200 HP . Good luck though and may the zoom be with you

I am guessing that it was that close because YOU are that much of a better driver than he is....now that you got the intake on...which probably won't make THAT much diffrence...you need the HOLE SHOT!.....THAT could make the difference.

May the ZOOM be with you as well! ...... but beware of the dark side. he will creep up on you in his black and white and grab you by the wallet!

I'm guessing you raced a bone stock Jetta without a turbo, I had a 97 Jetta GLS 2.0L & from what i remember it ran pretty close to a bone stock protege.

A 2.0L Jetta any Protege5 will definetely kill, because of the Jetta's lesser hp and its unwillingness to rev, a 8v SOHC powering a vehicle that weighs 3100lb doesn't have any acceleration qualities. I'm talking about the 150hp 1.8T with 155lbs/ft torque, which weighs around 3100 pounds, and auto also.

My Jetta ran pretty good, except I had a Neuspeed chip, ABD intake & Borla cat-back

Yup, they are fast when tuned, especially the 1.8T's which are chipped. But I think the new Orange Mazdaspeed Protege will give it a good run.

I beat my friend's 2.0L auto Jetta easily. I was steadily pulling away, and was about a full car length before we hit 70 km/h, then I had to turn.....
Once his Jetta got stuck and we had to lift it a bit. Damnnnn those things are f-ing heavy!!!
