Drove the Famalia Sport20 Wagon

Over the holidays, I went back to Hong Kong and stopped at Japan for a couple of days. In Japan, the traffic is nuts and people drive like mad. Anyways through a friend I know, that immigrated to Japan several years ago, and now works as a senior manager in a Mazda dealer in Tokyo. I got to test out a Famalia SP20 Wagon (In a nearby parking lot that was completely empty because I had no Japanese license), and boy was it fast! At first it seems like a Protege 5, only quieter and with smoother shifts. But after I decided to slam it and shift it into manumatic mode, its sounds changed from a growl to a high pitched whine at 4000rpm and above. This thing really pulls at high revs, and feels much faster than the Protege 5 when pushed hard. However, the handling is completely identical. The Famalia also has additional goodies like an HID headlights system and an autoclimate control system, but what I like most after th test drive was the engine. Wish we got that here, I wouldn't mind shelling some extra cash for it.

Ahhhh must be nice. Yeah that is where my engine pulls the strongest. Above 4k rpm. Just wish the ECU would hurry up so I can really get into the powerband. They are pretty strong engines tho.

Yeah, if Corksport hurries up and gets my clutch here, I too can feel the power in my MP3!
