Anyone think that the 2nd gen 1.8 would beat a 3rd gen 2.0?

the 1.8 has 122 hp and the 2.0 has a claimed 130, which is probably 115 at the crank and 100 at the wheel if that.

With equally good drivers and equally equipped vehicles (i.e. no auto vs. manual) I'd bet on the 2.0 ES. It seems its manual transmission has been tuned more towards acceleration vs. top speed (shorter gear ratios).

If the 2nd gen 1.8 is the same as my 1st gen 1.8, and it's a stick, I'll pick the 1.8 over the 2.0 I've taken many 2.0's (including a couple of MP3's and a Mazdaspeed) with my 91 LX (1.8 DOHC).

You haven't seen his pro. He probably has one of the fastest ones on this site. Maybe not the fastest one on the site, but he's up there.

Yeah, sorry about that. I fogot to mention that my Pro isn't stock. Anyway, don't forget that it's not the car but the driver. I've raced and beaten certain cars that should have killed me just becuase of bad driving on their part.
