'90 LX (stock) vs. '03 Corolla S (stock)

A find of mine (who I bought the Protege from) got a new Corolla S, which is why they sold me pimp mobile #2. We were getting out of wings last night, I was ahead of them. I decided to call Dave on his cell, ask him if he wanted to race, pretty stupid question

We hop up onto the highway, we decide to do a roll from 40. I was in second around 5k, he honks three times, and we're off. I pull just a tiny bit on him at first, his front bumper is at my rear door. Wound out 2nd, shifted to 3rd. Still at the EXACT same place. Wound out third, shifted to fourth, he was still right at my back door, not moving AT ALL. Once in fourth, he started to reel me in then pass me. Now I was at his back door. We both kept on it, and finally towards the top of 4th I was reeling him back in just as he did to me. I finally put him at my rear bumper, and we quit. It was an awesome race (for slow cars, that is)

Overall, I think the Corolla is a little bit faster. They had an extra passenger in the car (3 instead of 2), so they probably would have pulled a car or two on me through the whole race if the extra passenger wasn't in his car.

Anyhow, it was an awesome race. While the corolla seems to be a bit faster, the protege (with 158k on it) definately holds it's own against a brand new car

[edit]

Next time there will be video

The protege should romp a corolla type S. Last car i owned was a 00 chevy prizm LSi which is just a corolla type S 1.8 dohc 16 valve VVTI motor and i romped my chevy by like 2 or 3 car lengths with my 93 lx protege :-)

No BP engine though. The Corolla's in Europe are sweet though, like the 189 bhp 1.8 2GG-ZE powered 5 door Toyota T-Sport hatchback.

Haha, yea

Doesn't matter, his other car is an '02 Celica GT-S, and it's way faster than a BP 323

But not a KL-ZE 323

Pics of it here: http://www.protegeclub.com/forum/sho...ghlight=celica

Maybe, but I'd doubt it... He has a CAI, and straight-through catback (Kazuma). I might be able to beat him to 30 or so, it's not fast until 6500 when it hits lift. But once he gets in lift in 2nd, he can stay in lift through the rest of the gears up to 135
