2002 ES vs. Honda Accord

Okie, so we're at this light, and we're both making this left turn. He's right behind me, and I think he doesn't like my new muffler. I just installed a Sparko muffler, and I love the sound. I anticipate the light and start to brake toque, and soon as it goes flashing green we're both off. I'm at full throttle the whole turn and my wheels are barely keeping to the ground. I know he's flooring it cause his front wheels are slipping on the turn and he's going into understeer. I clear the turn and I redline through second, and I hit 3500 in third. by them im almost 120kph, and he's much further behind me than when we first started. Then I swung onto my exit lane and took off before he could catch up... The whole time my muffler was screaming like mad. That was fun as hell. I think it was the 2000 or 2001 150hp version. Cause im sure either the 200hp or the newer 240hp versions would have slaughtered me. But hell yea!!!

Was he in the opposite lane? I only ask because if you were flyin around a two lane corner don't you think this guy would have to slow down so you wouldn't slide into his ***. And for being in the lead, remember you got around the corner closest to the inside and that means youre going to be the first one to hit that straight away.

i suggest that you look out of your front windshield while u r driving, not your rear one

It was a single lane with a flashing green arrow.
I was in front of him, and he was behind me.
My drawing isn't very accurate, it was more of a ninety degree turn. I have eyes in the back of my head, so i wasn't looking through the back window fool!

LOL!!!!
It was a single lane left turn that opens onto a 2 lane road.
He was behind me when we began to initiate the turn, and we
were both stopped at the light prior to the turn. So, at the beginning of the race, I was 1 car length ahead, but exiting the turn I was about 2, and a half from him.

So, what you're saying is that your 2002 Protege with 130hp and 135ft. lbs of torque PULLED on a 2000-2001 Accord with a 150hp V-TEC engine and 152ft lbs or torque? I know this isn't possible cause I have a 2000 Accord EX 5sp. and I smoke Proteges and civics all day. The only way this is possible is if the guy was driving an auto with leather interior and had the pedal floored when going around the turn. (which means he didn't know how to drive)

So bottom line is that it is possible....BUT HIGHLY UNLIKELY

sorry MidnightDreamer
I will have to disagree with you
Usually, I try to believe what the person would say
but, I believe that you beat him
however, The person in the accord
did not try to beat you
He/she probably was playing around with you
I know because my friend drives an Accord LX
and those are pretty fast cars.

I would say that you gave it the best of your car
and he was just having fun with you
If he really tried to get you, he would
probably got you

Anyway, I bet it was fun!

I believe because the Accord EX is like 350 lbs heavier than the protege. 150 hp and 152 ft-lbs of torque in a 3100 lbs is nothing! weight to power ratio is what count. Why do you think a bike with just 100 HP is so darn fast...

From a launch a bike is definitely quick cause it only weighs 400-500lbs.

BUT...On a roll, especially on the highway, a bike isn't all that great compared to a car because a bike has very little torque

All I want to say is "V-TEC". The top end power for the Accord is very noticable, my cousin took his 2000 Accord to Sacramento raceway with me and the first time down the track he took a P5 by 2 cars lengths. So all I'm saying is the Accords top end is probally more noticable than the Proteges top end. But I can't say too much since I have never driven one of these new Pros.

I ve never driver an Accord EX 4 cyl VTEC. I was just going by weight to power ratio and it should be very close. I also think both cars are slow even if the Accord beats the Protege. Everything slower than 14.99 I consider slow, but that's just me. Other people might consider 13 sec slow.....

Actually the Accord sedan is pretty fast compared to other cars in it's class. How many 4 cyl. midsize sedans do you know that can run 15.8 in the 1/4 with an automatic tranny?
