Talking My car (take ??)

I know you've probably all seen my car already, but I figured I'd post a few pics since I got some new ones and will have more in the future, with this thread, I'll have a place to post the future pics...

Comments and suggestions are always appreciated of course.

In case you're wondering what I was doing to the car, we were installing my Energy Suspension bushings.

maybe not something for right now , but big brake upgrade,,,
just a thought. I think that would look so crazy on your car, but damn expensive.Yes I know!!!....
otherwise I think your car looks sweet as hell ...
Beige interior would make your car killa ,, something serious...
I usually favor a Red/Black , but for some reason your car just seems to fit it ...
I have to say great body work .. keep it up

I wish I have enough funds to make my first gen lookin like that. Great body work, but I think the front bumper is kinda too big for my tastes. I like the trunk.

My one suggestion: The stock half-taillights look out of place. The whole car is so slick and smooth (the back might even be a little too shaved, but it might just be the taillights) that it would greatly benefit from some really slick tails. I actually haven't seen any on a 1g that I liked. All I'm coming up with right now is to put on some GTS blackouts over them. At least it would be more slick and monotone . . .
There may be better suggestions, but that's what I'm coming up with right now.

Wanna race?

We'll see how lame and ricey you think my car is after I spank the crap out of your puke-colored granny-mobile BarryGAY.

Sorry. He hurt my feelings...

EDIT: OK, so to make your comment constructive... What exactly do you find makes my car lame and rice?

That's my point, why would I race something that looks that stupid? I bought a Protege b/c it's fun and looks great out of the box. No need to dress it up like some pimpin' poser.

And if you really have to ask what makes your car look lame and rice........where can I start? It looks incredibly stupid and tasteless. Totally overdone. I can honestly say that your car is laughable looking. The front and rear spoiler look ridiculous as do the over-sized wheels. The only people that will give your car props are those who also have the bad taste to rice out their cars as well. You're trying to make a mountain out of a molehill which is why it's so dumb looking.

It's a PROTEGE and with all the crap you've done to it, you've got a pimped out tacky looking ECONOCAR....not a cool car. That's why V8 drivers laught at you b/c you go thru all this work to make your car look even dumber. Don't worry.....when you grow up you'll at least have some pictures to look back and laugh at yourself.....

Sorry to hurt your feelings but you asked.....and I told.

Yeah, right, nice car. Love the color.

There are many reasons I have chosen to modify a Protege. Or as you would choose to call it, ECONOCAR. First off, it is unique. Second, it handles extremely well. Third, mine has very nice power for the amount I've spent. And fourth. it is an economy car (sorry, that's ECONOCAR to you, Webster).

The reason I needed to buy an economy car it is my first car and I have 7500$ a year in University tuition to pay for, so I could'nt afford a more expensive car. I feel that I have managed to create what I consider to be a sporty and good looking car (until now, people only seemed to agree with me, but everyone is allowed their own opinion). Once I'm done with school, I'll probably drive a BMW. Until then, I'll stick with my Protege.

If I were a grown man with a career and drove a Protege, then I would be a little embarrassed. Unless I wasn't a car buff. In that case it would'nt matter what sort of car I drove.

I'm not trying to insult anyone else that may have the same car as our good buddy Barry here, so I apologize if I did.

As for it being overdone... True, it is alot more aggressive in styling than the original car was. That does'nt make it rice. And overdone is the opposite of lame I think.

As for V8 drivers laughing at me. Fine, let them... If it's an M5 or a Corvette LS1, then they deserve to laugh. All the others are just driving cars with engines that have high displacement to make up for their lack of technology. And going fast in a straight line does not make a car better. I'd like to see them keep up with my car in corners.

Sorry for the rant. And I'm very dissapointed with the turn my post took.... It sort of puts a damper on things. But it did make me like my car more.

I would like to know, though, is BarryG alone in feeling this way, or do others feel this way as well. I didn't spend all this time, sweat and money on my car for what others think, but it is interesting to me.

Thanks for the feedback.

Barry, if you have anything else to say to me, please PM me rather than fill my post with more of your comments.

Oh, and Bruce, I think I'll install a turbo before I do the brake upgrade.. The current brakes do a more than adequate job of stopping the car as it is. But it is a good idea, thanks.

And nate0123, in regards to the taillights, those are there temporarily, I have all-red taillights that used to be on the car that I am repairing, They'll be back on shortly.

leungwingkei, I have a DOHC BP05 head that was rebuilt, ported and polished installed on a BP01 block (the pistons are bigger... I compared them when I took the head off my other Protege.) Also, I have a 2,25" cat-back exhaust (I also polished up the inside of my manifold) and a cone air filter (that last one doesn't do much...lol).

This post is REALLY long, sorry!!

I've always liked your car. The only thing I didn't like(as Im sure everybody agreed at the time) was the rear. That was because you didn't have a full body kit yet. Now that you've finished the kit the car is ****** beautiful in my opinion. The only complaint I may have is the same as nate said. The trunk looks "overdone" or somethin. I have never liked the trunk piece on our first gens and always thought it would look good shaved. But I don't really think it looks as good as I thought it would. Your car would look awsome with the "Familia" trunk lid garnish from corksport. But don't get me wrong, it still looks good! Maybee if you added the Canadian GT wing it would make it look a bit better.

All in all I love what you have done, great job!
