Bah, I'd take the PS2, it has the best games. I don't care if the Xbox or the Gamecube can out power it. Thats nothing if you don't have any good games.

Plus the PS2 has GTA3 and GTA Vice city ( release 10-22-02)

Edit Added:

I think the PS2 is the best one even though it isn't as powerfull and the other 2. The Xbox doesn't have that much good games, even though I heard Halo was pretty good. The Game Cube I think IMHO is a kids system. Plus the controller are to small and it hurts my hands.

I'm going to say right off the bat, this is going to get ugly. I know there are a lot of Xbox owners out there that don't care for PS2s. Me, I own a PS2. I love it. Great games, good features, and a good price now ($200). I would probably be very happy with an Xbox as well, but I wanted some games that you can't get on Xbox... I literally pretty much bought the PS2 just for Grand Theft Auto 3... And Gran Turismo 3 is amazing as well.

I also didn't like the fact that I had to spend an extra $30 just to be able to play DVDs. I dont' have a standalone DVD player right now, and that's part of the reason I bought the PS2.

To make your decision easier, just look at the games you want to play, and go from there. PS2 has an advantage with the Grand THeft games, but Xbox has Halo and some others that I heard were really good.

Hope this helps, I don't think you can lose either way.

XBOX!!!!

Xbox is totally the way to go. All the games are PS2 are so weak. I mean, sure, there is GTA3, which you can buy for your computer for less than the PS2 version (free if you know what you're doing) and Gran Turismo 3, which is really sweet. However, Xbox games are just better. If you like golf games, nothing compares to Outlaw Golf, if you like racing, there is Project Gotham, and multiple arcade racing games, if you like adventure type games, there are games Spiderman (also available on PS2 and PC) and Gun Valkery (misspelled I'm sure).

The fact of the matter is that xbox is just better than PS2, sure you have to pay $30 for the DVD kit, but the playback quality of xbox for DVDs is better than that for PS2's IMO. The controllers for xbox do take some getting used to, however once you adapt to them (five minutes after you start using it) you will never want to use anything else.

Finally, if you like multiplayer party type games, XBOX has Fuzion Frenzy. This is the best party game ever. This game alone makes xbox worth being bought. Oh yeah, the built in hard drive too, try playing a season of NBA on PS2, yeah thats right, that will cost you a whole memory card ($30, the same price as the DVD kit for xbox). 8 gigs of memory are built into the xbox, plus you can put your own music on the hard drive, so that you can play your own music when you are playing video games.

I almost forgot, one more thing, xbox has four controller ports built in to it (another $30 add on for PS2), and xbox has Halo as well. And if you are into online gaming, xbox also has a built in broadband adapter.

Ok, I'm done. Please buy an xbox.

What the hell is the deal with Halo? I have played it but I didn't really see anything to get excited about. Have the Halo people just not played Ghost Recon (I know this is computer but IMO the best series of FPS ever made) or its sequels? And if you really don't like realism then there is always Unreal.

Anyway I'm glad the vole had the time to make a console system instead of focusing on their core business of making operating systems but Sony really has them beat on this one. The PS2 may not be as good but the games are better than anything I have seen for the X-Box. Plus there is no racing game going to touch GT3 for a long time.

Thumbs up X-BOX RULES

X-BOX is "off the hook" i was going to get an PS2 but i played xbox and got one soon after. The reason it doesnt have tons of games out is because most are still being developed, but between now and december there is supposed to be alot coming out. Also X-Box Live will be here in Dec. so you can go online and play against your friends across town or even some homies over in japan or anywhere else in the world...Dude just play HALO and you will be hooked.....

PS2 rocks and has more games. If XBOX gets some more game support it may be better. I hope to have both by Christmas. Problem is that I'm torn between spending money on video games or on the Pro.

Vice City Screen shots, I'm pretty sure its going only to the PS2 and the PC

Unparalleled depth - bigger and better depth of gameplay than Grand Theft Auto 3.

* Non linear gameplay combined with challenging missions and compelling story, providing well over 100 hours of addictive entertainment like no other.

* Huge, open environments with hundreds of interior and exterior locations and incredible details, full of inhabitants who interact with you and with one another.

* 100% more style than Grand Theft Auto 3. with film-like art direction. Unprecedented production value as seen by the incredible voice talent and an authentic 80's hit soundtrack that is three times longer than the Grand Theft Auto 3 soundtrack.

I'd buy the PS2 just for GTA3 and GTA vice city, thats what I did.....I had GTA3 a month before I got my PS2, it was so tourmenting just to look at the game disk and know I couldn't play it.

I also heard that Bill Gates tried to buy the rights for GTA3 and Vice city, they wouldn't sell it to him, so I say "haha".
