why do people not know how to opperate a car correctly?

how come people don't turn on lights when its raining like crap?

how come people don't turn on lights inside a dimly lit parking structure?

how come people don't use the blinkers? (that should be a dealer option so some ppl can save a few extra bucks)
how come everyone at the wheel thinks they are right?

I just encountered an instance of a dumbass at the wheel today! This guy in an Impala decided to stop right when the light turned yellow. I was behind him and I planned to go through, especially because he wasn't braking. But then he like slammed the brakes, and I would have rear ended him, but I swerved into the other lane. Luckily there was no one there! It was a very close call and I got so pissed...

Too bad that would've been your fault, too. You're always supposed to leave enough room to stop if the guy in front of you does, even if he decides to slam the brakes in the middle of the interstate. I know it's not always possible, but truth is, you were following too closely. Hey - I do the same thing - we all do - but you can't complain when it almost bites you. I've been there, too, man.

You always have to check your rear view mirror when you brake, also - habit I've gotten into. I've avoided at least 3 serious accidents because I had to slam my brakes, but saw that the guy BEHIND me wasn't gonna make it, even though I was. In all three, I moved to the side of the guy in front of me (twice onto the grass!) and the guy who was behind me came to a screeching halt less than 10 feet from the car I was behind - in other words, I'd have been in the middle of that sandwich had I not moved over. Get into the habit of taking a quick glance in the mirror whenever you have to brake, hard or not. It can save your ***.

Oh - and my own rant on drivers:

I HATE people who don't know how to judge a turn and stay in lane. I'm talking about the guy who cuts to the inside of the turn, and moves partway into the inside lane - no matter if someone is there or not. Usually a dicky SUV driver (but not always), who then flips you off when you blast the horn cuz he's gonna run you off the road. Learn how to drive before you roll in a house on wheels you rude ********.

Oh yeah, they should also do a license classification for vehicle size even for private citizens. That way only qualified people can drive SUVs, pickups, etc and the dumbasses can drive dinky cars. They're doing this kind of crap in Europe (I think) as well as Asia. It's working very well. They even go as far as if you are qualified to drive stick in all situations too.
this is an extremely good idea! hope the officials in the US catch on with this soon.

I think they should also have lessons where they teach you how to control your car during a slide out and also how to control the vehicle during a high speed quick manouver, I've seen and heard of so many accidents happen on freeways when ppl change lanes and don't look in the blind spot, suddenly find out last minute some one is there, turn the wheel way too quickly for that kinda speed, then loose control and plough through from one side of the freeway to the other.

but before they teach that they should teach ppl to use their blinkers and look at blind spots

The US has one of the (if not THE) most lax licensing requirements in the world. Many other countries require years of extensive training and testing before issuing a license to drive. Driving tests are a JOKE here, and we all know it. I'm sure there are at least a few members of this board who wouldn't pass a European driving test - and probably shouldn't be driving here, either.

And the US has one of the (if not THE) highest automotive fatality rates in the world. Coincidence? Doubt it.

It's a joke to get a license in Canada as well....so sad.

Oh well...at least we have DRL's on most cars.
