Who wants to ride a DRAGON
I'd like to make an official trip down to North Carolina to drive the Dragon. So if it's posible can someone sticky this post?? Thanx.
Deal's Gap is an 11 mile stretch of U.S. road which runs through some foothills. There are 318 corners to take and can be tons of fun. If you do the math, you'll realize that you'll hit a corner every two seconds.
I did this trip in 2001 with a motorcycle group from the States. We had a blast there, and I thought we could strut our stuff there.
Take the time to go to the Deals gap pages and let me know if your interested in showing the motorcycles what were made of.
If this goes as planned we'll show roughly 30 cars, next year in the summer. I know it's far away, time wise, but there are a lot of things that need to be planned, and right now I'm looking for a show of hands that want to go.
There is another site as well that also gives out info on the Dragon
This poll is also at the Toronto Protege Club I hope that we can get at least 40 members total out there. Hopefully more, but we'll see.

If you guys want to set something up I'll try and see if we can get some local support through ProMazda. Just let us know what you guys are thinking. We can also help with getting things setup as far as a place to stay and local info. Drop me a pm and get me some updates. I've been to the Gap at least once a year for the last 5 years and I must say it has to be done at least once in your life if you can make the drive.

I've seen trucks in person. There is some scary stuff that goes on there. The trucks have pretty much stopped going through there during the day. Been with a lot of people who have wrecked motorcycles up there. Its no place to goof off. You definetly have to concentrate and know your own limits. Crashing up there is an everyday occurence. People should know that before they jump into it. It can be a nice drive if you want it to be, but if you want to push it be ready to accept the consequences. The Dragon does bite. I always tell people that driving the Dragon is the most fun I've ever had almost crashing.

Here Here.
Very true statement. *knocks on wood* I hope nothing happens to anyone who comes for the ride.

To me, the real hazard is the bikers - some of those guys are downright crazy - passing you on blind curves, etc... Then there are the idiots with RV's. In off-season times, the road is very desolate and much more enjoyable.
But the road is well worth it. Just take your time and learn the route, first before you push it hard. Good news, too - new pavement was laid down last Fall!!!

Yea...but it will be a lot easier to find a place to stay. If we plan far enough ahead I'm sure that the Eastern Seaboard would bring a lot of people out. We just need to set a date...maybe sometime early fall and go for it no matter how many people say they are coming. It will still be a good time and set the stage for the next time we get a chance to do it.
