Tail of the Dragon

In car cam video of Tail of the Dragon both ways.
It has turns labeled so if you plan on going down there it would be a good training video hint hint.

I always get down there for the Miata weekend. This year I may do the RX-8 weekend also. It all depends on wht I'm driving at the time.

Kinda sad how they have taken a gold mine and turned it into a lump of coal. I shutter to think of the money the state is prepared to toss away. Last July we went down with a group of 22 just from my town. Multiply that tourist money by the thousands of other people that make the trek.
The trip and the road are not about speed as much as the "dragon" sticker and the meet on each end.

If they want slow the road down they should have a cop every half mile. They could pay them all overtime and still come out ahead.

I don't know much more than what I said earlier but I can speculate about a lot of things..

1. young drivers....nuff said

2. traffic jams....pisses locals off

3. speeding in and out of the area (show-offs)

4. littering/clutter

on the plus side you get some additonal sales tax dollars...and the obvious traffic ticket fines!

If it were me I'd have police in full force on that road 24-7. Make it known this is a CRUISING road and in the event there is an ethusiasts group that would like to make "spirited drives" they could close off certain SAFE sections. Then rent out this feature to large groups and that money would go to police/safety and then something usefull like education or road improvements.
