Whats the best stuff for cleanin floormats/carpets?

ok, it's about time i cleaned the carpets of my car. They're so dirty and bother me so much. I just don't know what the best way, or what stuff to use. Like for dirt and stains. What's the most effective method?

I use the Little Green Proheat made by Bissell. I picked up it at Target a while back for $99. This works great! It's a compact deep-cleaning steamer like the bigger ones you'd use for your house. In fact, you can use this in your house too as I've cleaned small spills and furniture upholstery with it as well. They make a cleaning solution for it, or you can use Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner with it like I do. The Meg's APC is great stuff for carpet even without a steamer like the Bissell. You could use it alone - just brush it in with a stiff nylon brush (not wire brush of course) and take up the excess moisture with a wet vac. If you really want to know more than you ever thought imaginable about cleaning your carpet, or any other auto detailing, check out www.autopia.org and do a search.

degreaser and a good power washer (20000PSI) just throw degreaser on it to loosen up the **** and then force that crap out with the washer but go over it really slowly. then use some sort of a strait edge like a ice scraper but bigger and "squeege" the water out. let dry for about 20 mins and your done. i do this at work all the time

I used a product called Tuff Stuff -comes in a yellow and red spray can. Follow the directions on the can. It made my carpets and seats look like new. I found that the wetter the better (soak the sponge or scrub brush). If you could use a steam cleaner to suck up the dirt and product that would probably work great.

yea i'll try tuff stuff or that blue magic cleaner. then steam. where do you guys vacuum ur carpets if u clean them, do u actually take out ur vacuum to the car n vacuum the cleaner stuff off of it or do u take it 2 the car wash where they have the vacuums there? i've always wondered this b/c there's a time limit on the ones at the car wash.
