Keeping Floormats in place

OK so my new Pro is sweet, but the freaking driverside floor mat gets all twisted around everytime I get in or out of the car!

Anyone find a good way of keeping the thing stay still?

I thought the "new" Proteges had a thing that the floor mat clipped onto. That's the way it is on my Protege anyway.

If it's older like my wife's 1st gen, there is nothing that I know of.

Yep I got a clip and the bottoms of my floormats have spikes that grab at the carpet to prevent sliding.

My driver side has a pin that the floormats clip onto.. Problem is I bought pantsaver rubber ones that don't have a hole for the pin to go into (yet) so they're all over the place for me too!!

Gotta get off my lazy *** and punch a hole in them so they'll stay put!

RAT, since you said NEW P-5...I am assuming you are talking 2002, and if you look at the floor right in front of the drivers seat and you do NOT see a little metal gadget attached to the floor with a PIN sticking up that fits through the FACTORY floormat, then I am guessing that you BOUGHT the floormats at the dealer and they DIDN'T come with the car new....and if that is the case....the DEALER screwed you and didn't install this little piece...it keeps the floormat in place and it dont' move.....there is a thread out there SOMEWHERE about this too....I even posted a picture of the metal clip with the pin in that thread....

late reply

First off, sorry for not being around to reply to your answers to MY question. (life happened)

I saw the holes there and thought they were for hanging the matts while you clean them. I thought it was a nice touch. As it turns out it's a nicer touch than I thought. I'll be hooking that jobby up tomorrow morning.

Thanks guys!

It's a protege not a Pro-5 sheesh everyone has Pro-5 on the brain! hehe

evidently you either found the piece I was talking about or got it from the dealer....it really does work nicely.....my front mats NEVER move around.

and ya know? that is a slick idea about hanging them by those holes when cleaning or even letting them dry after washing them

Mine is metal actually... and black. I first thought it was a crank for the moonroof incase of motor failure like my old car.

Couldn't find where it goes... go figure.........

that is just too funny don.....lol sorry...but it strikes me funny.....there should be one for BOTH sides of the front....there are in my car anyway.

its obvious that the MORONS that they have do prep work at dealerships don't know what they are doing....its just like the people that never got their roof rack pieces that cover up the spots when you remove it....they come in plastic bags along with the licence plate mounting brackets and SOME guys, insted of leaving them in the cars...if they don't know what they are they THROW THEM AWAY!! geeeeeeeeez!
