Ask any true WAXAMATOLIGIST , its not whether you wax every week or once a year. Zaino is Zaino and its the best there is . But it comes at a price that only my neighbors can afford!!

I waxed my car about a month ago with Meguirs Gold Class, and about a week later, I notice some white swirl marks on plastic roof rack railing. I called Meguirs 1-800 number, and he told me to use the vinyl protectant (which I already had). This seemed like it did the job, since I didnt see the white swirl marks on the plastic anymore, but aboiut (2) weeks later, they are back!!

I know , I know, I should have been careful when I was waxing around the plastic. Next time I will be sure not to make this mistake again, BUT does anyone have a solution to getting the white wax residue off of the plastic? Has anyone taken the plastic rail holders completely off? Im not talking about the metal beams, just the plastic.

ANY help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

You could mask it off with painter's masking tape. I do that around the nozzle and emblems and antenna, etc. It saves you a lot of time from trying to pick that crap off later.

On another note, doesn't that Meguiar's endurance tire gloss stuff smell awesome? Just like a melted grape freezee......

That said, the cool word for the day at my office is ...

ne'er-do-well. I love that word.

Woah there....swirl marks are something that happens in your paint. If you have the sun shining overhead, look down at your paint and at the sun's reflection. Chances are you'll see lots of little lines, mostly in circles around the sun's reflection. These are swirl marks.

What you saw was wax residue on your roof rack.

I've said it before....
to get wax residue off plastic any of the following should work:

a) use a protectant beforehand (ie. 303 aerospace protectant, mother's back to black, etc.), or
b) mask the area off (I forgot about this...edited in now), or
c) use peanut butter or any sort of vegetable oil, or
d) use a white vinyl eraser to literally erase the stuff away.

If you use a product like Mother's B2B OVER the wax residue, you are merely covering up the problem, and once the B2B is washed away, the residue will show up again. The eraser and peanut butter/oil will permanently remove any wax residue.

Confused

I know how to wash my car, but the only thing im confused with is polish and wax and how to do it. There is a difference between wax and polish i think. I've recently bought the Turtle Wax Color Cure Polish with the Chipstick with covers the scratches. Have any of you used this product be4 and if so is the product good? I want my car to shine and have a good wax onto it. I've never done this before though so any help and tips would be helpful. With that Turtle Wax Color Cure Stuff, what should I do, first I know that I should wash and dry the car. What materials do I need to polish and what materials do I need to wax. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Never used that turtle wax stuff you're talking about. I can't say either way if it's good or bad. My gut feeling is that it's probably not the best though.

Do a search on this forum: www.carport-autopia.com

Really helpful (somewhat obsessed ) people there.
