Tornado Season ... Yipee!

So now that it's finally starting to warm up I have to look for damned tornadoes all the time. The first actual nice day we had in Iowa, we get hit. I made a trip down to Iowa City to see my brother, when all of a sudden it gets dark. Golf sized hail starts to fall, and sirens start to wail. That's also about the time we both started cursing cuz our cars were about to get owned, but luckily it didnt do any damage (Mazda paint actually held up surprisingly).

So at this point I'm still not believing it, since this is the first actual close encounter I've had with a tornado. The previous years they always went around so I figured this was a fluke. Boy was I wrong ... 5 minutes later we see the funnel and we just took off. His building doesn't have a basement, which is great architectural design for Iowa ... so we start bangin on his neighbor's door. Luckily he let us in, good guy!

After that it was just really loud from the hail and the winds, but nothing got damaged around us. The Wal-Mart where my brother works had its' dairy department get carried away, and there was just random damage done to downtown, which still sucks.

Moral of the story: You can't run away from natural disasters in this country ... they're EVERYWHERE!

Had one land less than a mile from my house about 3 weeks ago... and like the dumbass that I am, I stood on my porch and watched the whole thing. A friend and I drove around afterwards and checked out the damage and took some pics. I will have to see if she can email me the pics, there were some pretty cool ones - overturned semi trailers, telephone poles completely snapped, massive trees uprooted, miles upon miles of damaged fences and houses, and one large tree completely in flames.

Yea the aftermath is crazy ... but still nothing compared to a hurricane, that's the scary part.

Yep, we're all sitting ducks down here in FL. They expect this year's hurricane season to be busier than last year's, too. Not looking forward to it.

Is it just me or is weather getting worse and worse every year.
where I live we hardly have any tornadoes at all and this year about a week or soo ago they were calling for like 2 or 3 within the area.

weather = wierd.

it's not weird. It's called global warming. Every gasoline engine, air conditioning compressor, electrical generator, etc. produces heat. When the power goes out after the hurricane, what do we do? We start our gasoline powered electric generators so we can run our air conditioners. What's the problem again?
