5 points??!!!!!!!!!!??????????

dude the ONLY thing you can get 5 points for is passing a school bus...or if you got two tickets (for street racing its 2 3 points tickets so thats 6 points plus your car gets inpounded here in california)...a regular speeding ticket is 2 or 3 points max depending on how much over you were going...and 4 points for wreckless driving

I think the point systems differ from state to state.

remember man he was prolly doin close to 100. In many states doing 100 is conisered reckles driving and they can arrest you and impound your car not to mention the tickets you'd have to pay + impound fees. And you can't take reckless driving off your record either so youre screwed for life w/ you insurance company.

well if he is doing 95 thats "deadly speed" and would be in jail so if you were doing that your lucky...but im pretty sure than wreckless driving (more than 15 over...or swerving back and forth...or both) is only a 4 point offense

VA and MD are speed ticket traps
Everybody who lives there knows what I mean

The freaking intrestate is limited to 55mph and everybody does 70
the back streets that are as big as the interstate is limited to 35mph and I swear you could do 60 in them

hey....At least I haven't been pulled over yet.....(knocks on wood)

After 7 speeding tickets in 5 years, including a CNI for speed and three more than 24 mph over the posted limit, I like to think i've learned a few things about keeping points off my license and my insurance cheap. If you live in a state like MO that requires a pre-trial hearing, attend and plead NOT GUILTY, this will get you a trial date. Show up to your court date about 30 min early, the prosecutor will talk to you ahead of time and want to know how you plan to plead. Just tell him/her you would like to plea bargain. Five times I have done it this way w/o an attorney and I dont have anything on my driving record. Twice I paid an attorney to do this for me, a waste of an additional $85 since I get the same deal attorney or not. Once I even did all this over the phone when I got a ticket 400 miles from home. Anyway, you will get to pay a fine (usually 2x face value on ticket), or get probation, or driving school. Either way, the last thing you want to do is go into court like a smarta** and try to fight on a technicality and lose. You can't beat the system, just pay the fine, give the prosecutor and Judge the "GUILTY" verdict and win they so desire come re-election time and drive away a little wiser.

i just want to add that in ohio, if you go to court and lose, then you have to pay the ticket AND $65 court costs, its probably smart for them...but its BULLSH!T.

Listen, mtbfreak40, call your local DMV and ask them whether there's a way to appeal the license suspension. Also visit your local library and ask the reference librarian what the procedures on license suspensions are and whether you can appeal it (the DMV reps on the phone sometimes don't know their ****).

Of course, depends on your state... you may not be able to appeal, or you may have a 10-day limit or something like that.

always contest your speeding ticket.. always.. and on the day or your re-appearance, call and reschedule it for say... some monday at 4:15pm..

the officer never shows up

that's one way to keep a clean driving record.
if ya really want to get slick you can reschedule your court date during the officers vacation time (this is generally public record). But that's being a real bitch and should only be done if the officer was wrong or just an incredible
