i want to join the SCCA, but i dont know if they have any racing for our proteges. i quickly scanned over their page, looks like i can only do road rally. i want to get out on a track, whatever it takes. already ordered a information packet

SCCA does a lot of road racing, but you might not want to mod your car to the degree required. Certainly wouldn't be able to drive it on the street any more.
You may want to check out track days in your area. Not "racing", per se, but pretty close without the $$$.

Just get in touch with your local SCCA chapter and they'll have info about open track days in your area. It's always a good idea to autox for a while before you go out on a track, so you really can't go wrong by joining.
