A sad story of drunk driving.....

A buddy of my brother in law (soon to be anyway) killed his girlfriend yesterday.

I only met the guy once, but I know he's a degenerate drinker and druggie. In fact, I hold him partially responsible for the relapses my brother in law has had in his own battle with drug abuse.

Anyway - he and his woman were at a bar, and we all know the middle of the story. The end of it is, he lost control of the car, hit a tree, and his girlfriend is dead.

The guy has been arrested for DWI (his THIRD time), and numerous other charges are expected to be filed by the DA, including vehicular manslaughter.

I don't post this for any "dude I'm sorry" replies. Truth is, I only met him once, and I'm not sure if I ever met the girl.

I hope this guy gets sent away for a long time. He should not see freedom forever, IMO. I believe he would do us all a favor if the guilt consumes him and he puts a gun in his mouth.

ANY of you guys who drive under the influence (and hope you are few and far between) take warning. This **** happens every day, and one day it may be you. Not only will you face all of the charges, etc. - but you will lose the respect of everyone you know. It will be a tough road for this guy, knowing that most of the people he was associated with wish he would have died instead.

It can't be easy to go through life when everyone wishes you were dead.

Thanks for letting me vent a little. I don't even know this guy and I hate him.

Drive safely, everyone.

~HH

It does suck when you hear something like that. Maybe posting this out there will make someone stop and think the next time they want to drink and drive.

I don't know why it is.....but it seems that more times than not the guy/gal that is at fault comes out okay....and the innocent by stander takes the fall, it really pisses me off.

Why don't people just buy alcohol and bring it home. Drink it there and fall asleep. Cheaper and safer! Don't drink and drive.

I have a story which was just as preventable and stupid. An old classmate of mine (Shawn) from high school was getting married last week on Saturday. The Thursday before, him and a buddy of his (he is a dumbass) went out drinking to "celebrate". Now this guy has cheated death on numerous times by d and d'ing and this time was no exception. The only difference is now he will never drink and drive again. Why? Because he ran off the road, hit a tree, and moved around a couple of his vertebrae. He won't ever have to worry about driving (or walking) again. Two ******* days before his wedding. What a fucktard. The only person I feel sorry for is his fiance, and I hope she cans his ***. I hate drunk drivers, there is no point to it.

I don't know if they are, he is still in serious condition in the hospital (it only happened a week ago). He is a nice guy and all but still, you bring that all on yourself, and I have no pity for anyone who drinks and drives, so it wouldn't bother me if she left him. At least it happened before the wedding so it is easier to make the choice.
