I did. I don't think I need to explain where I'm from or what I did. But, to reiterate, I did. I grew up in rougher neighborhoods than most people on this board (my completely biased and uninformed opinion). when I was growing up, I couldn't afford a Starter Jacket, and you obviously could, so obviously, you were in a much better situation than me.

When I was in elementary school there was a guy that always used to pic on me and my other friend.. My other friend was a cool kid but he really did not stick up for himself much ... I hung with him a lot as he was in my class and the whole class had all the same classes every period....
Well there was this one Bully , who always used to pick on us , and me being a bit subtle and it taking a lot to rowl me up , never really paid him anymind, I guess it was because I was never scared of him...
Well anyway one day in class the bully was leaning in his chair (you know how when you push the chair back on the 2 legs and brace with your hands on the desk, so he was showing off and looking cute..) I got up to go to the front and accidentaly bumped his desk and he fell back and on the floor. Well the whole class started to laugh like crazy which did not make things better for me...
So he gets up and gets rowled and upset and starts saying how after class he's gonna F me up and beat my *** and I should not have done that and blah blah ripetyroopa.....

So we get out of glass and everyone is like Bruce you better run ,, you gonna run ,,, don't wait for him ... And I am like I am not running ,, for what ( I did not see the sense ,, where would I run to ,, I would only see him in the next class) .... So we get outside , I stand there and wait for him, he comes up to me and starts talking trash , I look at him and say "Do what you gotta do, I am right here , I aint running , I am ready when you are"... After a while of us standing there he turned around and walked away...
After that he never picked on me again and we were actually somewhat associates..
We did end up going to the same high school toghether, but he would not bull the same bull **** he used to pull in JH..

Overall I learned it's better to stand up and be a frigin man , and do what you gotta do than to sit around and let some assclown bully wanna be punk you .... If you got fight , then hey you do what you gotta do....

First of all starter Jackets weren't in when I was growing up ... and fashion was not a big thing then as it is now .. If you want to speak about back in the day then we can go there.... You say you grew up in a rough area, they why the hell are you acting like your so damn preppy, and keep acting like standing up for your own childhood/manhood (even if it means fighting) is a bad thing.

The matter of it all is that if we were in a classroom in elementary, Junior high school or High school, you know you would get slaped for saying .. I don't think fighting is socially correct ,, blah blah blah .... This you know ... If you grew up in an area that you say you did, then you of all people should know this ......

I didn't want to pick on you, Bruce95fmla. I was merely indicating my distaste for the belief that the social hierarchy during grades K-12 explicitly involves a "fight-or-flight" nature that you insist is required of all.

YOU came to the conclusion that you really only have two choices: fight or run. YOU choose to fight. YOU say you have "street smarts" and, YOU equate "street smarts" with common sense.

MY OPINION is that BRAGGING about a STUPID FIGHT in eighth grade or high school and then, INDICATING that it boosted your POPULARITY points...is childish and, I'm sad to say, is sadly indicative of the mentality of people in my generation and younger.

You have all the freedom in the world to talk about anything else in this forum, yet, you talk about a fight in the eighth grade or elementary school...

...and you're proud of it?

Let's see...15 years ago, in the middle of suburbia...

Some kid a grade below me (and a foot shorter than me) got mad, something about a girl. He challenged me to a fight, made a big point of telling everyone that he was going to kick my ***, blah, blah, blah. "Out beind the school at 3:30," that sort of thing. So I showed up, and he didn't. The next day, I asked him where he was, and he said "I was just kiddin'." I made sure the whole school knew he didn't show, and he was a laughing-stock by the end of the day. So I'm walking home, with the girl, and the kid comes from behind a fence! I was ready to do what I had to, but I didn't get a chance. The girl nailed him in the nuts before I could do anything! I couldn't believe it!

And that's honestly the closest I've been to getting in a fight, except when an ex-girlfriend threw an ashtray at me in college (long story, but I deserved it).

Since we are on the fighting subject, I have a question for you guys: what would you do if a guy who is much smaller, lighter and weaker than you starts insulting you and getting in your face and all that ****?

This happened to me once, he was in my class:
The teacher had called in sick, we were inside the classroom playing "indoor racketball" , I wasn't playing at the moment but he was, for some reason he got mad at me, threw the racket in anger and said something like "you wanna a piece of me (some insult)??" I looked at him for a second, turned around and continued talking to my friend without paying the litle guy much atention, he stood there looking straight at me so I asked him: "what's your problem?" he said: "you are" and started talking ****, insulting me and stuff. I'm standing there in disbelief, not knowing what to do and suddenly he threw what apparently was suposed to be a punch and hits me in the arm, I looked at my arm...then looked at him and proceeded to slam him against the wall with one arm, he hit the wall hard and kinda stood there for a couple of seconds, then he left the classroom without saying one word.

It was very akward because I knew I could mess him up real bad, it felt like I was about to hit a litle kid or something (although he was my age). I didn't want to hurt him, but I also had to stand up for myself and let him know that he had to respect me.

I could write a lot in here, but you guys would call me sissy or something like that. My biggest fight or fights I should say were not one on one...It was usually any where from 5 vs 5 sometimes 20 vs 5. I was usually on the side with more people since I was in a band and most of the time I had all my bandmates with me as well as all their friends. I actually couldn't believe it when like 5 stumbling drunk people would start talking **** to one of us, not realizing that half the people in the room were on the same team. I actually felt bad for a lot of them since they were usually grossly out numbered and we normally didn't fight fair. I guess if your going ot fight you better be ready to pull out all the stops. The funniest thing I ever saw was the other guitarist in my band. He used to teach Akido and he could pretty much beat anyone he wanted to. He had just gotten a taco from Taco Bell and my band and about 15 of our friends were sitting on the curb outside the club we were playing. These 5 drunk guys come out of the bar next door and start talking **** about all the little kids on the curb out past their bedtimes. We gave them 5 or 6 chances to get in their car and drive off, but they insisted on causing a problem. The last time I saw my guitarist he had a guy in a choke hold with one arm and he still had the taco in the other arm. I remember that at some point in that fight I kicked I guy in his rib cage and he came out of his shoes. I thought about it later and I wished I would have picked up his shoes and started beating him with them. That would have been pretty funny. Actually I have a pic of the whole crew that was out there. Man that brings back memories.

That's so true man, I'm an easy going guy myself, but if I were to look for trouble I would at least find someone of my own size. This kind of people remind me of my dog, he's a miniature schnauzer but he thinks he can take on rotweilers, pit bulls, german sheppards, etc... it's a good thing that they're usually behind a fence or on a leash .
