what do you think about the way this "conflict" has been handled...I mean everything from the hunt for bin laden to the overthrow of Saddam to the nation-building in Iraq. What are your thoughts as an insider?

I think that we went to Iraq for the suppose "threat" that they were, but anyone with at least a High School education can see that Iraq was no real threat. Mr Bush and his colleages just found a way to deceive the people of the US, through the threat and scare of terrorism, to fund his and his partners financial interests. The whole Bin Laden thing is a perfect example of dropping the ball, and turning interest on something not even remotely connected to 9-11. To me and probrably 90% of anyone sane knows that Bin Laden was and still is the major threat. I am so sick and tired of hearing about the so called war on terrorism, its got to be the biggest media profitable mumbo jumbo of all time. This war on terrorism will "never" end you can beleive that. As long as we, as in the United States keep butting into other countries buisiness, and "forcing" them how to run their governments, and spend their money, there is always going to be a hate for the United States. So as long as we are the world police we are going to be hated. Hey doesnt everyone know that everybody hates cops .

Wow, I am getting in late on this one! I haven't had time to post the last few days.
Anyway, a lot of what I would have said has already been covered except I'd like to add the following about Mr. bin Laden:
This is just one possible theory and I don't necessarily believe it myself but it's food for thought.
I think it's possible that the reason Bush turned himself away from the chase in Afghanistan and instead put the focus on Iraq is because bin Laden's Saudi relatives threatened to pull their investment money in corporations which are run/partially run or owned by the Bush family/Cheney and their friends, if Bush pursued and killed Osama.
It's also possible that the Saudis, (not to mention the aforesaid Bush and cronies) through their investments in companies like the Carlyle Group, stand to make kajillions of dollars in profits in Iraq, not only with the rebuilding process but also off of Iraqi oil. You can bet when the oil starts flowing again it'll be a direct pipeline to the good o'l US of A (with a possible stopoff in Britain).

p.s. www.msn.com the cover story is about Bin Laden praising Bush for falling into his trap of a hopeless battle, complete drain on our economy and loss of more than 1200 american's AFTER 9-11..... ****, they shoulda had Bin Laden on the Kerry campaign trail.
What I find funny is the 2 sides to the Bin Laden tape...
The republicans say" See!! This guy is out there...he's going to attack us again. Let me finish what I started (after I'm doing getting rich in Iraq)
The democrats say, "SEE!! This is the guy the president said he was going to get for you....he hasn't done it. He's still free. Let me fulfill the presidents promises since he seems uncapable of doing so."
