Not really a Mazda, but.....
I know most of you guys could care less about Ford as the global corporation but maybe some of you have caught news about the new S60R? 300HP, AWD, 6-speed, etc. 0-60 in approximately 5.5 seconds. Ford is taking a boxy looking mom mobile corporation and is turning them in to a player on the world stage.

There are some pics of this and other interesting cars. Enjoy. I'm looking forward to picking up my friends S60 T5 when he sells it so he can get a S60R.

That car is "possibly" en route to the US. I would like one but I find the Golf a little bit (read: very) outdated exterior and interior wise. Maybe after they finish a redesign in a couple of years.
The 2/Demio has been discussed before. The Mazda6 picture is an internal factory performance effort (not Mazdaspeed) with a turbocharged 2.3L. Rumor has it that car could be production VERY fast.
I would get the S60R, mainly styling issue there. But either of them would make a good purchase. I like the current gen S60. The in pillar air conditioning vents for the rear passengers are cool and the car is very well built. I might be able to get my friends. It is still in the air until he finds out whether he would be able to swing the S60R, or even get ahold of one for that matter. He is going to the dealership in a couple of days to talk to them about putting down a deposit.

The R32 makes me drift into LaLa Land. I love it that much. If it does make it to the US, it will cost around $30k !! Thats a pretty penny for a VW. Some of the hurdles that the car must jump are EPA ratings and crash test in order for it to see US soil.

Okay. I got my Autoweek yesterday. The R32 is definitely coming to the US. It will have a sticker price between 25-30k. 5-10k a year willl be imported. Only those changes necessary to meet US regs will be made.

Here are links to a car called the SHOgun. It is a Ford Festiva that has the Ford SHO engine squeezed in it. Jay Leno even has this car.

There is even a guy building one for the Car&Driver 2003 used car challenge. He bought a Festiva with a blown engine and a tarus SHO with rear damage. I can't find the link for it but it looked good for being way under $2000.

I know the Shogun. But I would blow my brains out if I ever seriously considered owning one. I'll stick with the imports, unless I suddenly need a new pickup (because the Tundra is a severe POS).
