Nitrous- controverial topic from hell

OK- before this topic starts off- I just want to hear everyones opinion on using Nitrous. When I say that- I mean some think its cheating- some think its perfectly OK- I am not looking to start any argument- just wondering "OPINIONS"

I personally have used Nitrous- and I respect gains seen form it. I do not think its cheating, but rather another power adder.

Reason why I am asking- if interested-
http://www.siouxfallsracing.com/Foru...t=31030#102972

Let me know what you think, and remember- its all just opinion- so please mind the moderators and the admin of this site- No BS flaming or stupid stuff...

I didn't read the link. I'll give you my opinion of nitrous.

It's works and it's the best bang for the buck of any power adder ever. If someone says nitrous is cheating and they have a turbo/super then they're cheating. All it is is a cheap way to cram more air into the engine.

< old redneck saying >

Run what you brung...and hope it doesn't blow up...errr something like that

< / old redneck saying >

Pick your poison: n/a build, nitrous, super or turbocharger and make sure your car is tuned properly. We had nitrous on the Mustang and on the fOCUS too...it's nothing to be ashamed of.

in my opinion nitrous is for a bunch of bit...anybody, no seriously ive seen people in street races getting into fights and wrecking other peoples just because their are on the "bottle", i personally dont care that someone has it, i have even race against a eclipse with it, i was winning until he hit the botton, i felt cheated but in the end i dosent really matter to me, just like a always say "i race not for winning i race for fun"

right- I had it- I raced with and without it. I have won races I wouldnt have won without it. Mine wasnt hidden or a secret- and people knew my car in my area. There are a few that do try and hide it, and to them I see that as pointless- that would be the only thing I would consider close to cheating. If you are going to use it make sure its not hidden, or at least dont try to attempt to keep it a secret. If you are ashamed- DONT USE IT. get what I mean...

The link shows a thread that blew up, because some girl and her family(internet trolls) thought that Nitrous was for pussies yada yada yada. Its quite entertaining- I highly suggest people check it out.

I agree with the sentiments expressed so far. Nitrous is just another tool for increasing engine output (like a turbo, supercharger, valve job, etc). You don't hear anyone bitching about someone using race fuel do you? Same concept. The only way it could be considered cheating is if the rules for the particular venue prohibit it. Like I always tell my kids, if you agree to the rules then you can't complain if you lose.

im partial to both. yeah, its in the same league as super/turbo/NA build up. but then again im against it because its not a 24/7 power adder. its a when you need it.

(This post is created by another user, not on this forum)" I think its cheating, if you need nitrous then you need you need a better car, everybody on the streets says its cheating, its either all motor or turbo/supercharge". (Again this post was not created by the orginial user)

Okay fine. Build the motor, add a turbo AND some nitrous.

i think its a unique tool, but a lot of sanctioned motorsports prohibit it, partly of the risks. if the technology comes to the point better controlling the dangers it may become allowed in more motorsports and i might change my opinion a little. alcohol fuels used to be prohibited from drag racing at one point. but until then i hardly see a use for it unless you're on the drag strip. it should not be used on the street and one should not be street racing anyways.

If you wanna risk using nitros go right ahead. I presonally wont becuase it enjoys oxidizing the hell out of the pistons.

Like I said before, if everyone agrees to the rules then it isn't cheating. I think the deal with NAWZ is that it is relatively easy to hide an installation, therefore making it a prime candidate for those who cheat. There are levels of cheating like all else, anyone else recall the machinations of Smokey Yunick and his contemporaries? I mean, those guys dipped a Camaro body in acid to drop a little weight!

I say...If you are racing to see who can get there quicker..nitrous is allowed, but if you are going just by how powerful your engine is, I dont think N05 should be used..
but thats just me.
I myself just prefer motor to motor...
