The new Lexus RX 330
#3
I use to work a Lexus and I hated the old RX300s. I do have to say as far as the new ones go, I agree...very sexy. As far as the power of the old 300, it was terrible. I think the problem is with toyotas V-6. They lack power and the transmition is geared to get optimal sound/gas mileage. The Inline 6 of the IS and GS are much smoother and rev very nicely to redline. I would be interested to drive the new 3.3 liter motor. From what I read, it has very little horsepower gains but gains in torque are much more noticable.

Since it is still an SUV, that I am sure that none of the owners have ever taken it off-road, and also that the only engine Toyota has been able to fit in there is a V-6, I doubt its going to be blazing fast. It is a great luxury car, SUV, cross-over, what ever you call it, but it is not fast.

BTW.... fast? Are you kidding? You don't buy this vehicle for speed. They may be reasonably quick in a straight line, but they ride and handle like a minivan or a lifted and gussied-up Camry wagon.

Just for grins.... my last post was a little wrong.
Lexus Sales Figures for 2001
ES 300: 44,847
LS 430: 31,110
SC 300: 7
SC 430: 14,326
GS 300: 19,848
GS 430: 4,613
IS 300: 22,486
LX 470: 9,320
TOTAL OTHER THAN RX300: 146,557
RX300: 77,426
The RX300 doesn't outsell other Lexuses put together, but it does outsell the next closest Lexus by almost 2:1, and 35% of Lexus's total sales are RX300's.

Every since I rode in one, I've always liked it.
My aunt has a 2002 in black. The interior was beautiful and it drove so smoothy.
It glydes down the street, but it turns, the rear leather seats couldn't hold passengers...lol In sharp turns, if you were in the rear seats, by the time the truck is straight again, you'll be on the other side...LOL

SUVs
I completely agree with TheMan-- That's all we need is another damned "luxury SUV". I find it disgusting that luxury auto makers stoop to the pansy masses who fancy driving an SUV and never intend to use them for their original, true purpose. Bloody poseurs.
Those who use these generally irresponsible vehicles for their real purpose I don't mind. It's the ******** who go cruising or to the mall in them that I loathe. All that space not being used, all that fuel being burnt out and exhausted into my lungs, all that dependence on oil it creates, all the wussies who don't know how to drive in top heavy, comparatively unsafe vehicles... I'm sorry, it looks nice, but I find those who drive luxury SUV's scum bag, selfish, thoughtless, gluttons. They take more than is necessary from our collective well being and I find that an egotistical practice that is inherently selfish and irreverent toward others. These people aren’t thinking of anything but themselves.
How cool is that?
How noble is that?
I generally hate SUVs, particularly "luxury" ones. The two words together make my blood boil because of the reckless, wanton abandon wielded by so many who favor vanity over concern for others...
