Question for anyone who might have knowledge...will the incentives for Mazda be going up? The dealer is firm on the price but asked if I want them to notify me if/when incentives increase (although they say they are as high as they have been). Ploy or true?

Okay, let me run some numbers by you guys (more expert than I). I was quoted an initial sale price of $29,364 (this was a car with Sirius radio, MSPR $31,655). $2500 rebate which made it $26,8464.

I have told them I want a car with only the sunroof (theirs also has wheel locks), MSRP on that is $31,255. Now they are telling me that $24,085 (with MAC financing) is as low as they can go. Here are my calculations with some assumptions on my part:

S-plan price $28,200
Dealer sale price difference (from MSRP) 2,291
Rebate 2,500
Total $23,409

Does this seem out of line? I haven't hit them with the above yet as I was waiting on their response to my request of $25K out the door. Would using the S-plan pricing remove the dealer sale price allowance from the equation?

The way it stands right now I can get into one for about what I planned on (provided they give me what I need for my trade). However I would like to spend the least amount possible. Any assistance anyone can give would be appreciated.

Mike is right. Here's what I figured up for you.

$28,200 (splan) - $800 (holdback) - $3500 rebate = $23900.

$25000 OTD is a good fair price.... Personally I would try to haggle with them. Some dealers are selling them at a loss so they don't have to pay the interest on those massive loans for the R-O-T-L's (rots on the lots). Get them sold and start selling the MS3's.

personally I STILL think you should be contacting Roger Beasily Mazda or Jim Ellis.... they're giving cars away.

Thanks for the input guys. I am working on the $25K OTD, they said they couldn't do it but who knows. I am trying to figure out how not to appear to want the car, while not removing myself from their attention. Like I said earlier, I have never been good at this.

Matty, I'll try Beasley again, and look at Ellis. Last time I checked though, Beasley didn't have what I wanted. I'm kinda funny that way, when I pay a bunch of money I want the car I want.

i know what you mean. Ellis has 2 lots... One in marietta and one in atlanta. I'm sure they'll have what you're looking for.
They also quoted m e $23,1K which is another $800 lower than what you were dealing with originally.

If you factor in a $400 delivery fee (or plane ticket) then you're still saving $400.

Wouldn't you go another 10 minutes out of your way if you knew you could pick up $400 laying onthe ground? I sure would but maybe thats the jew in me coming out.

Yeah, I'd do that too to save some money. Unfortunately, neither dealer had the car I am looking for. So it will be back to Mr Local to see what they can do me for on my trade-in. Only problem is, at this point I have thought about it so much that I really want the car, and it's gonna be hard to walk away if they don't give me what I need. C'est la vie.

I recontacted the other local dealer to see if they could come closer to the price of the first one. They did come down some, but then I found out the car has nearly 4700 miles on it. To me that makes it a used car, and while they said they gave some mileage discount it is still to high for me. So tomorrow I will be taking my trade to the first dealer to see what they have to say about it.

Just back from my trade appraisal. It's a 2001 MPV LX with a bunch of extras (4 seasons package, towing package w/hitch, rear heat/A/C, upgraded sound and rims). Mechanically sound w/76,900 miles, exterior has some dings and the right rear is scraped from when my ex had it. They quoted me $3500, said it was due to the dings etc. I just smiled and nodded. Guy then asked what I needed out of it, I told him $6K (based upon KBB estimate). He said no way, but he would call some folks and see what he could do. Of course while he was having his guy look at it he gave me the key for the Speed6 and started it so I would feel obligated to drive it. I'm not one to pass up the opportunity (even though it was raining) so off I went for a short ride. It also gave me the chance to check out the interior better in the daylight. All I can say is, gonna be hard not to get it if the numbers don't come up. He promised to call me back later today.

Well, my bid to buy a Speed6 is over. I was quoted an OTD price of $22,815. This was including my $4300 trade plus all taxes etc. I just can't justify the monthly payment it would cost me at that level. Oh well, better luck next time.

Back from the dead. I did a some searching at dealers a little further away, found two with the exact car I want. Nothing concrete from either yet (one guy asked what he could do to put me into the car, I said give it to me!), hopefully I will know by the end of the day if I can keep my hope alive or not.

Back from the dead again. I revisited the one local dealer, he is willing to go $23,900 for a GT w/moonroof. Taxes etc will bring it to around $25K. I have to discuss some with my gf/financial adviser but I think I am going to do it. I'll let you all know. And thanks for all the discussion.

Waaah. Seems like you're doing pretty well. I remember running around doing the same to buy my car. Gets tiring, but by the end you know everything inside and out...

Good luck with your deal. Hope they give you something better on your van.
