What year rustang we talkin. If its the newer one its gonna take a shitload of power to take it. They have 300hp 320ft/lb
they run the 1/4 in 13.8 in auto! The 4.6l is the engine used in most modern gt's.

There is also the 5.0 wich puts out like 200hp and is generally a joke unless any work is done to it then fear them.

The problem is they just sit in place sheading there tires. So around 200hp in a pro should whip a rustang.

I am partial to the "05" Stang but feel, other than a cobra, there were no good mustangs after 1973. And for all you mustang fans that think this was a dig at you, its not. I know that they can be made into monsters, I just dont like the exterior styling.

that's too big a swing in engines and power...94-95 gt's had around 200 hp and 300lb-ft of torque...still can easily beat a protege....96-98gt's had 220hp and 99-04 gt's had like 260 hp...even the v6 99-03's had 190 hp....all can easily take a protege...to beat the top ones i would guess you would need close to 200WHP..and you still wouldnt take an 03 gt by much..I got like 200 hp 260lb-ft of torque in my mx6 and newer gt's give me a LOT of trouble

Mustang GTs are fun to drive and are powerful and fast. I rented at '01 GT from Resort Rent A Car out in Phoenix once and raced it against a '98 Eclipse GS. Not sure what the guy was running but his car was loud as hell from the exhaust and what not but I was still able to beat him, barely. When it comes to straight line acceleration you can't be American muscle, come time for the twistys they don't stand a chance. Who cares about dragging anyways? You beat me to the next stop light whoop dee doo. No skill involved in putting your foot on the gas.

The new Mustangs are no joke. '05 GT 300hp 320lb/ft on 87 octane..... 0-60mph in 5.0s on street tires....Expect LOW 13's on a base GT with drag radials...

oh and aziandragonz, this new stang will hang with you in the turns. I wouldn't go picking a race with one. You might get embarassed....badly.

i can take my share of 5.0's but the 4.6Ls evade me at speed. This will all change in a matter of weeks though.
