muscle car vs. sports cars

glad that got all cleared up... eclipses can be fast, but just not around curves. my friend's focus beat a riced out eclipse, so yeah... no biggie.
back to the thread... i would have to say a 1967 Cobra with a 427 is my dream car. i remember when the viper came out and they did a comparison of american muscle, the cobra was chosen as the defending champion or something. it looks sweet, sounds sweet, and can haul some major ***!

I would say race car. I can't even find the definition for a sports car, I have it somewhere and when I find it I will post it. Its something like exceptional performance similar to race cars, however streetability that a high strung race car lacks...

Re: muscle car vs. sports cars
Oh yeah, my $0.02....
1) Celica, Supra... mkIII and mkIV Supra, yes, but IMHO the mkI and mkII Supras and all Celicas are sporty coupes, not sports cars. (By modern standards, the mkI Supra and 1st thru 3rd-gen Celicas can hardly be called sporty either, but I digress.) Same goes for the Prelude. These cars can be pretty quick and entertaining, but they lack the handling and purpose-built nature to be called sports cars and the raw power to be called muscle cars.
2) The Mustang is the DEFINITION of a pony car. It is definitely a muscle car, as is the Camaro.
3) The Saleen Mustang is a muscle car too. Regardless of what you may have heard about Saleens, they're mostly just regular Mustangs with some simple off-the-shelf bolt-on parts, really overdone bodykits, wild sticker packages and a pricetag that is WAAAY too high to truly reflect the value of the extras. Yeah, they are fast, but they're really not as special as most people think. Their performance can be duplicated for a LOT less money with access to the Jeg's, Steeda, Griggs and Ford Motorsport catalogs, and the performance of all but the most exotic Saleens falls short of a stock C5 Vette.
4) About the Mustang "5.0" engine actually displacing 4.9 liters... let's not go there.

if u want a honda, inclue the S2000, and the celica can belong if u think of the WRC racer they had in the 90's. The exlipse could cont, when u think about the GSX

They are still in Japan, think they cut them out after fifth-gen in the U.S. (the sixth gen celica is the prettiest IMO).

Whatever. I guess if you want to go by the rules of rounding, it would be 4.9l.
Hell, the 4.9l I6 that was in the trucks and stuff was only 2 cubic inches less than the ''5.0'' at 300CID.

The only thing those two cars have in common is that they're both very fast, that's about it. I'm not hating on the Evo, they're awesome cars, but a lighter, AWD, shorter geared, higher HP car BETTER freaking accelerate quicker than the Z06. I see it's only .1 off the 0-60 time too.
