Negatize,
I'd stick with 10W-30 for where you live. 5W-30 is meant for those of us in colder climates. Heck, some don't even think that we should run 5W-30 here in Canada.
Check out the manual....it gives which grade of oil to use and shows the temperature range for the oil.
BTW, I'm running 5W-30 year round. Dealer said that's what they do here in Calgary.

Richard, thanks for the info, and you were right that site is down. Funny I have been using those Fram filters for years but on my other cars. See what happens when you live in a cave
. I guess it just shows you that there is mucho info out there and sites like these sure help you find it. So no more Fram for me.
dre2000, I printed off that filter info from that site and will have a read through it. 18 pages of info, wow!!
Found some Mobil 1 tonight and saw it said TriSynthetic on it. What the heck does that mean? I'm thinking it is a synthetic blend of some sort.

BTW: use a MX6 V6, Probe, or MX3 V6 oil filter, they will bolt right up and are about 50% bigger at least, and will prolong the life of your oil changing intervals (up to 7000 instead of 5000 if you change at that interval).

Actually it was scary reading about those filter tests. Makes me feel as if I have been damaging my engines all these years. Oh well, move on I guess.
Thanks for the info.

Wil, is that what Mazda calls the filter or is there some other code. Hmmm, I'll check with my parts guy at the dealer.
