It's Moving Day!!!

I am happy for you and I am sad for all at the same time. I'm glad that you want to get out on your own and have the maturity and responsibility to do it. But I'm sad for you because it's an apartment. How much is the rent and is there any one else staying with you?

It's a really nice apartment though. New paint, carpet, and electrical fixtures/outlets. 1 bedroom, 2 walk-in closets, decent bathroom, all major kitchen appliances included (even a dishwasher), dining room, large living room with a fireplace, balcony, central air/heat, pool, tennis courts, and basketball courts all for $495 a month with W/S/T included. I think its pretty good considering other places I looked at are similiar but without the walk-ins, dining room, appliances, central air, fireplace and they're asking $600-$700.
By myself for now but as soon as my girlfriend is done with college she'll be moving in and then we'll get married and so on.

Not bad for $500/month. I asked because my fiances sister has/had an apartment and was paying nearly $1000 a month and I don't think it had anything near what you are getting. Here in MD rent is high every where. I pay almost $1000 on my mortgage so $1000 on an apartment is a waste, you will never own it and you don't get any equity when you leave. Just don't stay too long try to get a house even if it's small. You got to start some where.

I would have loved to have gotten a house. i actually work for a local real estate company designing new homes for planned communities. there was a house i did a while back that i had thought about buying. but the developer has been dragging their feet and it won't be built for another year or more. everything else we do is way out of my price range so i figured i'd just get the apartment and see how things are when my lease is up in a year.

damn....i'd love to be able to buy a house for under 200k. just about everything here costs about 250k or more. a 3 bdrm townhome would set me back around 300-350k. now, i'm weighing the cost vs benefits of living in the suburbs for the lower cost, but damn it's so far away from the city! if i could find a decent home for under 200k, i'd be all over that in a heartbeat.

yeah cost of living in certain areas sucks. My grandparents have a house in San Diego, and they bought it back in the 40's. a 3 bedroom one floor house.. very small.. but on a full plot.. and they could easily sell it for 350k.
Up here where I live.... 350k can buy you a HUGE house on acreage.
