Insurance company

Do you guys know of any isurance companies that will cover in a case like this:

Lets say I get insurance for my car and I let my friend drive it. He crashes it and it's his fault. What insurance company would pay for the damages of the car he crashed into?

I'm pretty sure that as long as you have full coverage that any of them should cover you. I was actually rear ended a few years back by a guy that was driving someone else's car without permission and on a suspended license. Despite this, the insurance company of the other vehicle's owner still covered all damages. I would guess that the quality of the company, the type of overall coverage you have and your history with them will determine if they drop you or not afterward.

I have Allstate.

I was told when I signed up that as long as another driver had my permission to drive my car, the policy would cover that driver as well.

I think some policies with some companies can exclude people other than the primary insured, however. That's a good question to ask before you sign on the dotted line, if others are going to drive your car.

this is a VERY good point, there are options you decide when you get your insurance...and they SHOULD be stated in your policy....for instance....in order to LOWER my rate...I agreed that NO DRIVERS UNDER THE AGE OF 25 for my cars....and seeing as how the insurance company sees people of the age or 25 and up are BETTER risks...that gives ME a brake on MY rates...since the company sees my car as less of a risk of being the CAUSE of an accident....

SO, what you need to do is see what YOUR policy says....for IF he is in fact eligable to be covered under your policy...and HE got into an accident that was HIS FAULT...then YOUR insurance is responsible for the other persons car...as well as your own.....just be prepared for that next insurance premimum....they will certainly tax YOU!

Yes your ins might cover it but I will need to know what you have for coverages. Do you have collision? if so it's covered less your deducible. If not your likely out of luck. his ins might cover it if he has collision but most likely not.
Yes I'm an adjuster.

No, I do not have coverage insurance. I have the min. allowed by state. I asked several insurance companies and they told me:

"The general rule is that when an insured lends a vehicle, you
lend your insurance as well"

To me that sounds like yes they will cover it. That is what safeco insurance said.

When I asked Farmers they said:

"We would cover your vehicle as long as the
person driving it has your permission and they are legally licensed in
the
U.S.A. IT would be as if you wrecked the vehicle. The best person to
ask
would be your agent as each state has different regulations and
policies.
WE normally insure a vehicle and not necessarily a person. Please
contact
your agent"

Progessive said:

"If an operator will drive your vehicle more than
12 times a year, that operator will need to be added
to your policy as a covered driver.

If you give permission for an individual to use
your vehicle, and that individual uses the vehicle
12 times or less a year, you would not need to
add that individual to your policy. That individual
would be covered to operate your vehicle.

Each time the vehicle is driven is considered
one usage. For example, if an individual drives
your vehicle to a store, goes into the store to buy
items, comes back to your vehicle and drives it
home, that would be considered two uses of the
vehicle.

If you let another individual drive your vehicle, you
would want to make sure a current ID card is kept
in the vehicle to prove insurance"

This is true. Exactly what happened to me a few days back. Read the post "Poor Baby Pro"
