... and I thought I had the corner on age, but Sir Nuke appears to have me beat ! I turn 40 on Monday but it's all good. I've got a 3yo boy and a 9yo girl and they help keep me feeling younger than I really am. After I got my Pro and started modding it some, I've been accused of everything from hanging out down at the local high school to having a mid-life crisis .... whatever! All I know is that I'm having fun with this little car!

I am 17 and I got hooked the minute I got my license (the day after I turned 16), heh.

I'd drive my dad's big ol' Cadillac around and he had me convinced that the thing handled better than my mom's 2000 Pro ES.

One day I said, OK dad let's do a little test, you take the Caddy and go around that 90 degree turn over there doing 40. Needless to say he almost crashed into the curb on the other side of the road.

I took the Pro and went around the turn with no problem at all (not even a tire screech).

Ever since then I've been hooked on improving (or at least reading on how to do it) the handling of any and all cars that I can get my hands on. It's too much fun.

Sir Nuke, I hope you don't take this wrong, but I think it's pretty cool that a guy your age is modding his little compact car. Your daughter is a lucky girl. Most older guys I know that work on cars are hot rodders souping up Chevys. Personally, my dad drives a Tahoe where the only upgrade is the golf clubs in the back and the wine stains on the carpet. So to ya and keep it up!
I actually don't know how I could take a compliment WRONG..LOL. :{D

my daughter isn't into cars at all....and doesn't spend much time here at home....has her own life ya know....but My 12 year old son is into it ! lol my 17 yr old daughter thinks the P5 is pretty cool too.

Chevy's....ANYONE can hotrod a chevy....piece of cake....nothing to it.....I love the underdog....before the P5 and my switch to Mazda I was a VW nut....actually still am....but not these new watercooled things.....give me an old bug with an air cooled flat four in it and I can make it sing, dance, and play a bango all at the same time....WHILE KICKING CHEVY'S ASSES! :{D the last DAILY DRIVER I had ran 1/4's in the low 14's......my buddies run low 12's. course he has to put special gass in it....but he still drives it everywhere he goes....helps when your dad owns a racing shop and can afford that sort of thing.

I ,too, am one of the old men in the group. My first car was a 1971 Datsun 510 in 1976. ,I was into the import scene before some of you were born . I have built a 1979 VW Rabbit ,Believe it or not a Huyndia Pony (could use Dodge colt parts.) 1989 Mazda 323,1992 Mazda protege ,and now my 2001 Pro.
This stuff get in your blood ,it never goes away , I have 2 daughters ,both into cars . The oldest is prefers to enjoy the driving (racing),while the youngest is turning into a wrench monkey .

Well its good (for me, anyway) to know there's a few other over 40's here!

I have always customized my cars. No engine mods. Mostly cosmetic stuff like custom wheels and stereos. I can remember when the cool thing to install was an under-dash 8 track! Talk about horrible sound! And very easy to steal - I know because I lost a few!!

I have owned several Mazdas over the years. The 89 MX-6 turbo was a lot of fun!! But the P5 really is nice and I plan to do some customizing.

I'm 25 and because of my dad have been dragged to every car show as a little kid. I don't mind it and actually love it now. I'm in transition of going from v8s to smaller compact engines. My dad always had crown vics and pickups Tell you the truth I find the new compact engines complicated and theres no friggin room to do anything, and you always need a computer. I've always gone with sports packages on my cars. First car an '89 Z24 (still miss that one), '92 shadow ES (not done with this one yet 3.0L) and my P5 I just got in October (don't even know where to start, but its going to be fun). Most of my mods have been cosmetic so far but I'm starting to get more into the engines. I just wish I had one of those money trees. Now that my insurance has dropped a bit I'll be able to to afford more. My daughter is 1.5 and already makes motorcycle and skidoo noises so at least I'll have company when I'm working on the vehicles.

Dale?! ... as in Edmund's "Chicagopro" Dale?? Wow, long time ... and well, Happy Birthday to us then, huh?!

You see guys - you can still be over 40, love your Pro's, and even mod them up a lot. Yeah, I get a few "looks" every now and then, but who cares. Like macklum said, this stuff gets in your blood! Btw, my very first car was a '72 Old Cutlass with the Rocket 350 engine chromed to the hilt, Holley 4-barrel, dual exhaust, and Cragar deep dish rims. I had that thing jacked up so high in the back it was crazy - maybe that's why I still don't want to lower my Pro!

Ya know...I think its funny when I talk to some of the young guys just getting into cars and to hear them talk you would think that they invented modding/tuning cars.....little do they realize that it was people like MY GRANDFATHER.....which is more like their great grandfather that actually started this many many years before they were even born....or even dreamed of!!! lol

YEP....this stuff gets in your blood....and if you are lucky.....you find a way to keep it a part of your life....
