Home Stereos?

Who here has a home stereo? Im a self proclaimed audiophille..... always have been, i think its something i inherited from the rest of my family. All my uncles and my father worked at JBL at one time. One of my uncles was very high up in JBL to the point that he owned a good deal of the company... but anyways.

My last system consisted of a JVC 7.1 100x7 reciever and two jbl northridge speakers holding 2 10inch woofers and the mid and tweeter..... and a set of harman kardon surround sound speakers (4 speakers, a center, and a powered 10inch sub)... which were rarely used.

Recently i upgraded to a nicer set of english made Wharfedale Atlantic 500 Speakers: Love these babies to death.... i seriously havent heard anything better imo..... Well a set of Martin Logens could out do them... but still
also im currently running a harman amp with an assortment of goodies

I had some free time tonight and am working on putting together a custom made sub-woofer. I am presently using an infinity 75RMS (8 ohm), 8 inch powered sub. I have been through many subs and am very happy with this sub. The only thing is that under a high volume load it gets that loud noise when the woofer bottoms out on the cage and distortion. Have to turm the gain down under high volume.

I had an older 12 inch sub, that I blew screwing around with. The box was ported. I was able to take the amp out of the infinity and make a relatively clean install with the 75 RMS watt amp into the box. Then I threw in a 12 inch rockford (8 OHM) sub I had.

With the power of the amp under full load, the sub can take up to 100 RMS watts. It sounds pretty good now. I have to do a better job sealing the amp to the box. Some air gets through the seal. Also have to check the length of the port tube and make sure it is the correct length.

I am running bose 301's in front, 201's in the rear and have a wharfedale center. Pioneer receiver and DVD player and Aiwa CD changer. Am getting some bose 601's soon from a friend. They sound pretty good and with the other speakers I have, they will sound better. My system sounds pretty good now anyway.

Have to get a big flat screen television, too. Only have a 27 inch now.

Wharfedale makes some nice speakers. I have a pair of 7.1's or .2's. They are a nice two way, rear ported speaker that puts out some good bass for a speaker its size. Better than my bose 201's.

Have to jet now.......

Will get some pics up soon my my sub-woofer.
