Does anyone know which speakers are better between the KEF HTS2001 and the Anthony Gallo Micro Nucleus? Also what are your feelings of plasma screens. Do you think they die quick and have a lot of problems with warranty issues, and just a few pixels popping at a time??

my friend has a the pioneer elite plasma screen in her living room and she loves it... BUT she has had some issues with pixel failure. One weird thing though, is sure it looks cool and all, but the picture quality actually isn't as good as high-end rear projection or large CRT tv's...

Overall it's not bad, just a bit pricey... If you wanna go for style though, then yeah totally get one! and if you are gonna go for style, then you HAVE to get these !!!

For what your looking at, I'd go with the Gallo's. Kef was a great product 10 yrs. ago.

As for the plasma issue, I've been selling them for almost 8 yrs. now. A "good one" will last you for ever. I sold the Pioneer for quite a while and they all seem to have pixel problems, plus their contrast ratio isn't high enough to do true black. Panasonic has the highest rating plasma on the market right now, (besides the Runco but thats huge dollars) has the best contrast ratio (3000:1) and is the only true progressive scan plasma. It is also rated for 30,000 hrs. All others except NEC is rated for 10,000.

Chumpman, when you say Plasma isn't as good as good as rear-projection or CRT, are you talking about for cable? Because from what I've seen it's much more rich and brighter looking than any other TV when watching DVD's. Anyways, it's not for me, it's for my parents, and the reason is space, the way the room is set up, the only place to put a TV is on the wall 'cause anywhere else it would be off centre(there's a fireplace in the center). As for the speakers, again it's for my parents so they need something small that doesn't stick out. Just curious as to what came of her issues with pixel failure? Were they fixed? Thanks for the help.

don668, thanks for the help, and from the audio store that we might buy the equipment from, they're very concerned about the pixels blowing on the panasonic. I'm not sure if they've dealt with it or not, but they think that that one more than the others would have problems if you turn up the contrast and brightness. But from everything you said, it does seem to be above the rest...how would it look on a cable feed? Also, when you say it has the highest rating, are there any sites I can visit to see the ratings and maybe any sites like sounddomain for home audio??

well the for the one my friend has, the picture doesn't seem that bright (contrast ratio), or that clear (pixel size) during movies... the best home theater TV i've seen so far in terms of overall picture quality is still the Toshiba Cinema Series HDTV's...

As for the pixel problem, she just paid some dude to fix it... i'm not sure how much it costed her for repairs but i don't think she really cares (she's MEGA-loaded). The plasma as i said is for her living room, she's got a home theater room with a runco CRT projector/silver screen, Carver pre-amps, Denon THX Ultra receiver, Klipsch theater subs, B&W speakers/satalites and sound baffles for the entire room... it's pretty damn sweet!!!

These are just a few, most of the tests we get are insider reviews... ultimately look at them, make sure there set up the same, hopefully ISF'ed. Play movies with lots of black scenes and look for detail in the blacks. As for dying pixels, industry shows the Pioneer the worst for dead pixels, along with NEC. Also due to the new Panasonic plant in Osaka, they crashed plasma prices forcing other mfg. to sell at a loss and give kickbacks to move more product.

As for the cable feed... as always depends on your cable signal so I couldn't give you an honest answer.

Look at it this way, what would I gain by telling you to seriously look at a Panasonic? I'd get no commision or such. The company I work for prides itself on carying the best of the best, if you dont buy a Runco, buy a Panasonic.

don668, I'm really starting to believe you work for panasonic. hahaha, just kidding man, I understand it obviously doesn't benefit you in any way to promote panasonic, and I really appreciate all your help. I'm not doubting you, just asking more question to be sure Again though, you really helped me a lot, and what price should I be looking to get the panasonic for(42" I guess I'd wonder what the price on the 50" is too)? and there's only one model, right?
Now, some more questions if you don't mind How do you feel about an onkyo integra receiver for the Gallo's?(not sure of the exact model of onkyo...) And a last question about the panasonic is: do you know if they are good with warranty if anything happens like blown pixels? Again, just trying to inform myself by asking all these questions, not trying to make you out to be wrong or anything.

you can e-mail them and ask for a second opinion if you want... their site's undergoing renovation so it might be a bit quirky right now... it's the place where my friend got all of her stuff... As for the Onkyo, overall they get really good reviews in terms of value (best buy)... so if you're a poor-boy like me who's into home audio, then I think it'd be a pretty good pick... of course though, if you want sound quality, best i've heard is still Denon, Marantz or Harman Kardon...

cool, thanks chumpman, and like I keep saying the system's not for me it's for my parents They're definitely not the biggest audiophiles, but they do at least want something decent. And after what they're gonna spend on the plasma they're not looking to go all out(don't think they're as loaded as ur friend, hehe). So anyways, they're movng into a condo so they want something that sounds good, but don't need it to get all that loud. When I get my own place, that'll be fun Hopefully tho in 2 years people will be hiring software engineers cause right now it ain't a great job market

Integra makes a nice receiver, very musical. As for Panasonic their service is very good, if you do get dead pixels most people dont realize you can have them changed to a nutral color so they are less noticeable.
