The GTO is blah. It's a bland cavalier-cousin with lackluster styling, too much weight and sub-standard interior space for a vehicle of that size (I'm seakig about rear passengers). Also, whats the deal with the "dual" exhaust exiting from only one corner of the rear?? Might as well just use a Silverado exhaust.

The boosted V6 monaro would've been a nice model to add up here expecially if they could offer it for about $22-24K.

*edit* also be carefull about the name calling / bashing "your ignorance shows". We don't tolerate that kind of crap here.

saw this post and just figured I'd add my .02....the GTO styling is horrible. But then all the pontiac styling is horrible. Mr Delorean must be hating this, this ugly beast they dare call a GTO. I am not a big muscle car fan, but the original GTO put the AWE in awesome. This car used absolutely nothing from the original. Engine, styling cues, nothing. I think it will flop. Of course the at all the ugly peices of crap GM has put out in recent years. Pontiac Aztek, Buick Rendevous, SSR,C6 Corvette,2004 Cavalier,Chevy Aveo. GM needs to hire new designers. The only good looking cars in the lineup they deep sixed, the Trans Am and the Z28!

I think the Pontiac Solstice is very nice. It will be good competition (power and price-wise) for the miata...let's see if they can keep up!

Incase you didn't know the definition of Ignorance. And FYI, that isn't bashing. I asked for an explination and yet again you fail to give it.

Styling is SUBJECTIVE. I asked WHY the car is crap. Saying it is bland and looks like a Cavalier(when it really doesn't because I have had my Cav sit next to a GTO recently and they look NOTHING alike) isn't a explination of why the car is crap.

You did know that passengers as big as 6'2" can get in and out of the GTO with little problems? How do I know? Because I talk to actual owners of the cars who get in and out of the back and have carried actual passengers.

So what does it have a exhaust exiting from one side? Still a true dual exhaust.

The UAW is limiting GTO production to only 18K per year. If GM could get more in the country they would.


Again, maybe you should research the vehicle a tad more before opening your mouth about it and making yourself look foolish.

Yea, the Trans Am and Z28 were such huge sellers that they had to discontiue them...LOL I owned 2 late model F-bodies and the GTO is 5X the car they were. YOu want to talk about no back seat space.....

MrGTO, you're becoming a big headache very quickly. Out of your 11 posts 8 of them have been considered offensive. I'm going to ask you nicely to watch what you say and how you treat others on this forum. When someone disagrees with you and you call them ignorant that qualifies as being offensive. You asked someone for an opinion of why they don't like something, they tell you and you show them a bad attitude. If you can't lighten up you're either going to have a hard time here or no time here.

Well Rod, he came on the site with a name like Mr GTO, and i think this thread is the only one he has posted in. If he has nothing constuctive at all to say, and isn't adding anything to this website, he is really just taking up bandwidth. Just like any other outsider joining this board simply to bash. I say we ban him now, as he will add nothing to this website, since he has no interest in the Protege or Mazda at all

Mr. GTO....face it the car does not evoke ANY kind of emotion. It's a 2 door grand AM. It's a yawn.

There is NOTHING like the old GTO....NOTHING. So what if it has a V8 and GTO on the side. The car is a joke. My MSP will drive circles around it. I don't have a V8 but I have a tight suspension and cornering. I have a usable back seat, a kick *** radio. Better paint.....should I keep going?

I don't think he should be banned because he doesn't own a Mazda. If I remember correctly he said he came here for info on his girlfriends car. His lack of ownership isn't a banning offense.

My problem is that I'm being civil when talking to him (even though I'm bashing his car of choice), but he is not returning the same courtesy that he's being extended. It's more than ok for him to disagree with me (and EVERYONE else that's posted in this thread) but when he calls me ignorant and starts trying to demean me with definitions of words and so forth my patience thins.

give him a chance, if he has half the brain he claims to have and he wishes to stick he will straighten out. If not he can get gone. I don't care either way. Like I mentioned earlier 8 out of 11 total posts have been rude or offensive. If you can't contribute or be a positive person you should go elsewhere or keep it to yourself.

Chris (II-Savy). I agree with you. It's a ho-hum vehicle with a better than avergae engine. That however IS like the original GTO. this new land-mass is just a marketing plow by GM to use a great nameplate to help turn around their horrible sales and fill a void created by their profit-losing F-body.

While GM falters Ford (and the new Mustang) is raising to the top.

Slomofo, you don't what I like or dislike. and it isn't the only thread I have posted in but if you are going to BASH the GTO with useless banter(and looks is subjective and I can't argue that fact or your opinion) but when someone here says the car is CRAP and then gives ZERO explination on WHY he thinks that, who is really trolling?

Rod,I see you had ZERO explination or opinion on the RACE GTO's that I posted. Why is that? And learn the definintion of Ignorance-IE you have no idea about the subject of which you are talking about and me calling you a dumb MF'er(which I have not by the way) and I would consider that offensive. But if you can't answer my questions and you think being called ignorant is offensive, you should think about quitting about being a moderator because you need a thicker skin than that. I was a moderator over at LS1.com and we had 40K members. That required a thick skin. How many members are on this board?

And FYI to people that think I don't know about Mazda's, I spent plenty of time fixing my GF's POS '94 and now she has a '00 DX that is nice and I have considered getting a Miata, 6 and even a RX8
