I agree with u , THE_MAN - and everybody else...
I might be winthin the 99.9%

I love this forum, I get on it everytime im on the internet. I spend atleast 2 hrs or more everyday here - its the only place i really go and member's pages.
This forum what actually made me "trust" a protege - i guess?
I never knew the protege could be so reliable, fast and stylish.
If it wasnt for this forum, i was going to pay somebody to total it (my protege) for me. I like being a part of this forum. Im not very mechanically inclined but, thats what a forum is, discussion, trouble shooting and bringin such people with the same intertest? But i can see why you and everybody else gets mad when people such as I post stupid questions, but you never now what a stupid question might lead to. I always do a search before I post! - but through this forum I know more things about cars general then ever before and even more about my own protege. I would love to participate in the group purchase things - but im not gonna go into personal problems. This forum made me love the protege - I like mazda now. I only bought the car cause it had a sunroof. Now im glad I bought it. Its my first car and now Im gonna keep it forever. I thought I got ripped paying $4200 for it back in feburary - but now - i dont care!
I would love to go to the meets, i wish i could - thats why i dont say im gonna go and never show up. I like hearing what goes on at the meets. My job hardly gives me free time to participate at the meets or i would be dedicated to it! I wanted to go to Gro_Harlem's meet in Glenburnie a couple of weeks ago - although i wouldnt be a help - i would have learned something and shared my interest.
I just wanna thank everybody thats makes this forum go!

Earl

Q: Why does my car rattle?
A: you paid 16 grand for a ******* car, wtf do you expect? A benz?

Actually, I do expect even a car in the price range of the P5 not to have rattles. And mine doesn't have any now. You are suggesting living with rattles, which is bizzare since people on this very board (including myself) have posted great information on the sources/fixes of interior rattles in the P5.

Not sure why you bothered with your rant, as when you have a public free-for-all board like this, it's a fact of life you will get many stupid questions, people will not search, you will get bad information posted, etc. No ranting will ever fix this. If you can't handle it, then the thankless job of moderating the board is not for you. Now, someone suggested this is an 'enthusiast/performance' board and everyone else should get lost (or some stronger words as I recall). Well, what I see is the heading "Protege Owners Club". If you don't want new people to come with dumb questions, create a private board for yourselves.
Anyways, your entire post is quite immature and offensive, with your generalizing and obscenities. so with this kind of leadership here, that's all for me ...I'm gone ...

ok. here's my 2 cents. for the most part, i agree with ambient and the supporters of his rant. this is "a public free-for-all board" and even the moderators and admins can speak their minds here. sometimes, it's not what you want to hear. another fact of life. i too want a cheap turbo kit for my car... cheap to me is around $3k for a good turbo setup. there's plenty of aftermarket out there, and there could be a lot more if we showed some real support (i.e. meets, group buys, emailing the **** ouf of vendors saying "GIMME MORE" and all the other happy crap that goes along with supporting our cars). Now, this thread is just a big flame thread, and lets everyone speak their minds without anyone caring. For some reason, people are getting offended. "if you don't like it, don't read it." sure, edwin is an *******.. and trust me.. he knows he's an *******. i personally call him one atleast once a day when i'm around, so he knows. maybe he's a little rough around the edges sometimes... but thats edwin.. he's texan, what more do you want? also.. as for wanting a car that doesnt rattle? i do... but i paid $15k for my car, it aint happenin chief. but what did i see in that last post? OMG.. A FIX FOR IT! gee, another cheap and useful(?) mod to our not-so-expensive economy cars. wow... the rant didnt say we shouldnt fix it, or no one should help fix it.. just that you bought a damned protege, don't expect it to magically turn into a Mercedes when you pull off the lot. They're quality cars, with minor issues that may take a bit of time to get rid of because there might be more than a few of them. thats all.

The disclaimer in your sig is bullshit. You post 'forum rules', your posts say "Administrator", and you moderate and close threads. So you do represent the Board, and cannot hide behind your disclaimer to say whatever you want and be abusive/offensive whenever convenient for you. Use another userid that does not say 'Administrator' if you want to separate your role on this board from your personal gripes and ranting.

Foo on You!!!
99.9 % of us aren't Roger Foo and I'll bet his car isn't exactly stock. More likley, his ride probably has 199.9% of the sticker price of a stock P5 in modifications alone.

Plus, his JOB is being a rally racer, and most likely, 99.9 % of the rest of us are just wannabe's.
You got it right, if you have the money then you can change the transaxle, differential, mod the engine and suspension, etc. etc...
If I had corporate sponsors willing to build me a ride, then...., but as it stands, I work & i need a car to get me there, as well as provide some modicum of enjoyment.

The point of the original thread was that people just complain, period. Later this thread morphed into a diatribe that the forum was about mods & speed, a point that I contested. Apparently someone took offense to the fact that I suggested that Pro's weren't designed to be race cars.
However, they certainly do have exceptional handling characteristics. i think the complaints arise b/c of the undue expectations some folks have for their cars. That is my point, which addresses the original issue

I have never seen such a strong aftermarket fallowign for a car before. the 3rd gens are all new for the most part and many of us are clawing for parts. I personaly, Am getting the BEGI turbo, raing beat exhuast, ACT clutch findeza flywheel, kart boy shift bushing amoung the other **** load of part I am most likely going to get from flyin miata and spoolin as soon as they produce them. And my list is shirt compared to many. hell the new RSX doesn't have a fallowign like this. The Celica still doesn't have a fallowign like this. only older hondas and the focus have a fallowing like this.

I am amazed and truely happy from the aftermarket support we have gotton on the proteges.

My official rant and rave on the engine rattle thing:

The Ford Focus does not have an engine rattle when cold.
The Honda Civic does not have an engine rattle when cold.
The Nissan Sentra does not have an engine rattle when cold.
The Mitsubishi Lancer does not have an engine rattle when cold.

Am I to expect anything less from the second most expensive car in this group? Am I to expect that Mazda take over half a year, since I found out the dealership couldn't fix my problem, to provide a fix?

Thanks...but I wonder how long till someone bitches and tries to get me to remove it like Engineering pic. I may dust that one off and use it again...

kc5zoom: what have you done about the rattle? Write up a petition on this board and send it to Mazda. Call them everyday. Call your local mazda dealers everyday. I see people complaining, yet no one is taking serious steps to get it resolved. If you have done any of this to the extreme extent I recomend then you were on the right track. Mazda is a big company, you have to stay on top of them.
