INCIDENT: Thefts & Attempted Thefts of Vehicles
OCCURRED: May 5 & 6, 2003

BRIEF DETAILS:
Three vehicles were stolen and attempts to steal two other vehicles
occurred between 2:00 p.m. on 05/05/2003, and 7:00 p.m. on 05/06/2003. All
five vehicles were either 1994 or 1995 Honda Accords. In most cases, the
vehicles were locked when parked by their owners but were not equipped with
any additional anti-theft devices. In one case, the vehicle was equipped
with an ignition kill switch anti-theft device. In this case, although the
ignition was tampered with (popped), the vehicle was not stolen.
The following statistics demonstrates that motor vehicle thefts /
attempted thefts have dramatically increased since year 2000.
