Hmm... n/m Honda is Japanese made.
But still, Mitsubishi in my mind is a hell
of alot better than Honda. Mazda and
Mitsubishi are the only two cars that
I would prefer driving.

Mazda RX-7,8
Mitsubishi 3000GT

Well point being a 3000gt VR4 will take a 350z and has some cool options ....features include Mitsubishi's all-wheel control system comprising of 4WD, 4WS (4-wheel Steering), 4IS (4-wheel Independent Suspension), 4ABS (4-wheel Anti-lock Brake System) and ECS (Electronic Control Suspension). So not only is it not a slug its good in the snow ...Jon

How about a Mazda 787B like in "Gran Turismo 3, A-spec".
That's the fastest Japanese car I can think of...
Or did you mean road car?

I have driven both cars, the 3000 GT VR-4 is definitly faster. The 350Z has ballz but it is slow as hell if you fall off the power band. Anything below 4.5K has no ballz. The VR-4s twin turbos spool very quick and have torque to spare even at 3K.

For sport driving the 350Z is more competent but with any real weather conditions, snow, sand, rain, the VR-4 can definitly hang with the all wheel drive.
